We are seeking a Humanitarian Aid Coordinator – Logistics, to join our community.
The Humanitarian Aid Coordinator – Logistics, manages the shipping database and details of aid requests and outgoing humanitarian aid & product for both international & domestic programs; assist in preparation, loading and transportation of international and domestic shipments by land, sea or air and providing overall warehouse assistance. Assists in recruiting, coordinating, supervising, and engaging all individual and group volunteers in support of Buckner International programs and fundraising efforts.

What you'll do:
- Oversee the internal processing of all incoming humanitarian aid requests and ensure they are processed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist with processing, pulling and finalizing shipments.
- Completion of government and international shipment paperwork.
- Arrangement of shipment through various methods to the intended destination.
- Working with shipment brokers and communicating effectively on shipment needs.
- Preparation of loads in the packing, securing of product for ease and safety of shipment.
- Maintain an effective record retention system for all humanitarian aid documentation. Provide reports to the Director of International Aid and other designated staff as requested.
- Prepare and manage detailed records regarding all Gift-in-Kinds including maintaining computerized inventory database.
- Manage shipment database application to ensure database is properly functioning.
- Accurately process and inventory all donations in a timely manner.
- Responsible for Fleet vehicle Maintenance and documenting weekly vehicle inspection forms. Provide reports to the Director of International Aid and other designated staff as requested.
- Sort all inventoried donations into the proper storage racks.
- Document all in-kind donations following established procedures.
- Ensure humanitarian aid volunteer activities are consistent with Buckner core competencies and the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Assist in the 27 & Oak Marketplace initiative to develop and maintain sound business practices to assist in providing opportunity for self-sufficiency to Buckner clients and programs.
- Assist in preparing for orientation meetings, special events and other projects related to volunteer activities as needed.
- Assist in Organizing, implementation and direction of a comprehensive volunteer program that engages people through hands-on projects and continuing education of supported operational core programs at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid.
- Assist in the engagement, selection, training, education and occasional supervision of volunteers for the humanitarian aid effort.
- Assist with humanitarian aid volunteer engagement activities and preparations for the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid.
- Assist with preparation and management of records regarding all volunteerism and group activities benefiting agency, including maintaining computerized volunteer/activity database.
- Assist with loading and unloading of donations from vehicles, containers and from donor’s homes and/or businesses.
- Ensure quality and efficiency of tours for on-site volunteers conducted at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid.
- Work weekends as needed to meet business needs.

What you’ll bring:
- Requires in-depth understanding of a specialized area within a comprehensive field of knowledge normally acquired through the attainment of a Bachelor’s Degree. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required and a minimum of 2 years prior related experience in shipping, inventory, nonprofit or business.
- Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s), Company owned and/or leased vehicles (truck and trailer, van, etc.) as needed to pick up donations including furniture, food, clothing, etc or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner’s insurance policy. Requires ability to rent vehicles both domestically and internationally using required documentation. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
- Previous experience in driving large commercial grade vehicles, warehouse power equipment such (I.e. fork trucks) preferred.
- Requires proficient understanding of process design and procedures development and continuous improvement. Requires proficient ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions dealing with abstract variables.
- Requires proficient ability to recruit and enlist volunteers to work at the Center for Humanitarian Aid.
- May require weekend, evening and overnight work related activities.
- Requires ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds continuously to move food service and preparation equipment and other objects.
- Requires ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, stand and walk over 75% of shift.
