The Human Safety Risk Assessor will provide assessments and positions within North America Product Safety to support the development and maintenance of crop protection products (including chemical and/or seed care products) for Syngenta in United States and Canada. Working collaboratively across teams, this role will provide expertise in Risk Assessment for developing new agricultural technology and maintaining existing products, using the best scientific approaches to enable Business and Regulatory success in NA and globally.

Accountabilities:

  • Conduct Tier 1 dietary and non-dietary risk assessments for North American crop protection products, following established timelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and present scientific positions to key stakeholders, interpreting regulatory decisions and peer-review literature to inform risk assessment strategies.
  • Partner across global Product Safety teams to perform risk assessments, governance documents, and align technical positions while building strong internal and external networks.
  • Prepare comprehensive registration documents and respond to regulatory inquiries, collaborating with senior experts to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Drive innovation in risk assessment approaches by providing technical insights and contributing to the development of novel methodologies and positions.
  • Contribute to strategic foresight initiatives at team and Human Safety levels, proactively identifying future challenges and developing solutions while supporting peer collaboration.

Required:

  • Bachelor, Master or PhD degree in a field relevant to human safety risk assessment including exposure science, exposure modeling, toxicology, chemistry, statistics, mathematics, public health, or relevant disciplines, to support the maintenance and development of crop protection products.
  • 4+ years of experience with Bachelors.
  • 1+ years of experience with Master's or PhD.
  • Knowledge of North American regulatory requirements and human safety risk assessment for dietary and non-dietary risk assessment.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge in dietary and non-dietary (operator and residential) risk assessment and apply expertise with specific understanding of North American regulatory requirements (EPA, PMRA).
  • Experience in a field relevant to human exposure, modeling (DEEM, CARES, PBPK, PWC, etc.), data analytics or biostatistics will be considered as a great differential.

  • Experience using modeling tools to support exposure and risk assessments.
  • Experience with risk assessments in the Agricultural industry.
