Our teams work on investigations that deal with the most important issues in the world from migration and climate, to conflict, tech and accountability. We serve multiple platforms, crossing borders, languages and formats.

The Role

We’re hiring a Human Resources and Operations Manager to help us build and maintain healthy, equitable and effective systems. This role has a direct through line to the quality and impact of our public interest journalism work. You’ll sit at the heart of our organisational infrastructure as part of a committed multinational team. You’ll help shape internal culture, strengthen systems and ensure that the people powering Lighthouse have the structure, care and clarity they need to thrive.

What you’ll do

Human Resources (40%)

Oversee the systems that make Lighthouse a great place to work: from onboarding and offboarding to annual staff surveys and professional development opportunities and equipment provision. You’ll manage our internal HR information system, create and update staff policies, coordinate performance reviews with managers and serve as the first point of contact for team concerns. You’ll also oversee staff benefits, including wellbeing and mental health support and help identify training needs across the team.

Operations (40%)

Build and maintain the systems that keep Lighthouse running: plan and execute our twice-yearly work weeks (in-person all-staff meetings) and participation in conferences — from launching planning processes and setting budgets to booking venues and catering. You’ll oversee travel budgets and logistics, manage our travel and other platforms, including our internal wiki and calendars.

Administration and Finance (20%)

You’ll handle purchases and contracts, backstop the Finance Manager when needed and support grant reporting. You’ll also help manage our internal grants calendar, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are tracked and met.

You’ll act as Board liaison and secretary: preparing agendas and papers, taking minutes, and coordinating in-person board meetings and travel.

You’ll run office logistics — maintaining supplies, coordinating vendors and payments and managing access.
