Overall Purpose:

The HR Consultant will assist the Head of Internal Operations in the management of the Human Resources function which includes but not limited to overseeing the entire employee lifecycle and ensuring that HR practices align with business goals and applicable laws. Works in collaboration with the Executive Office Associate in HR Administration.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Talent Acquisition: Managing the full recruitment cycle, from job analysis and advertising to interviewing and selection of employees and independent consultants.
  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Implementing GARDP Africa induction programs for new hires and managing exit interviews and termination procedures.
  • Employee Relations: Acting as a liaison between management and staff to resolve grievances, disputes, and conflict and disciplinary procedures.
  • Performance Management: Ensuring performance appraisal and objectives setting are done and filed annually providing guidance to drive a high-performance culture.
  • Compliance & Legal: Ensuring all HR practices and policies adhere to all applicable South African laws. Establish new and update existing HR policies and procedures.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Responsible for the administration of payroll and managing employee benefit programs.
  • Training & Development: Identifying skill gaps and facilitating learning programs to enhance employee competencies.  Develop and keep track of the skills development plan of the company.
  • Other: Update Remchannel annual data as per requirement. Support Management with general HR related matters when required.

Requirements

Skills and Attributes

  • Interpersonal & Communication: Ability to build relationships across all levels and handle sensitive issues with discretion.
  • Leadership & Influence: Proven capacity to provide strategic HR advisory services and influence senior leaders on key people decisions.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in using HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, etc.) to inform business strategies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) like PeopleWeek, Workable. Have proven track record in managing company payroll.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology.
  • Experience: Ideally, 7 to 10 years of diverse HR Generalist experience, including a solid 2 to 3 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
  • Exposure/ experience in recruiting outside South Africa, an added advantage.

Other

  • Hybrid role, preferred in office presence for at least 4 hours a day for 2 days per month.
  • 30% Time which is equivalent to 12 hours a week.
  • This is not a permanent role, it is an Independent Consultant role.
