Own and evolve our recruiting technology ecosystem while designing systems and automations that enhance recruiter productivity and candidate experience.
At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.
Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.
We’re hiring a Systems Engineer to own and evolve our recruiting technology ecosystem end to end. This role sits at the intersection of Engineering, Talent Acquisition, and HRIS. You will design and build the systems, automations, and integrations that power how we hire globally. Your work will directly impact recruiter productivity, candidate experience, and time to fill. You are not technical support. You are the product and engineering partner to Talent Acquisition leadership. If you see inefficiency and immediately think, “That should be automated,” you’ll thrive here.
Location: This role is based out of one of our hub locations and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.
In this role, you will:
Architect scalable recruiting systems using modern automation and AI-enabled productivity tools
Reduce manual recruiter work and eliminate unnecessary tool switching
Build end-to-end data visibility that enables smarter investment decisions
Design systems that support global growth without reinventing processes
Identify bottlenecks before they become operational problems
Deliver measurable improvements in system adoption, automation impact, and data quality
Design, build, and maintain integrations across ATS, HRIS, scheduling tools, assessment platforms, and internal systems
Develop API-based data flows between recruiting systems and reporting environments
Configure systems to support global recruiting processes and compliance requirements
Own JIRA workflows for TA and HR technical initiatives, including clear requirements and delivery tracking
Act as technical product owner for the recruiting tech stack
Translate recruiter and candidate pain points into scalable system solutions
Evaluate new tools, run pilots, and make clear build/buy/retire recommendations
Maintain and prioritize a systems roadmap based on impact and effort
Define and track system health metrics (adoption, latency, error rates, time in stage, automation success, data quality)
Deliver quarterly system health narratives to TA leadership
Partner with People Analytics and HRIS teams on reporting and insights
Partner with TA leadership, Recruiting Ops, and HRIS to design workflows that work in real systems
Run discovery sessions to uncover friction and bottlenecks
Clearly communicate tradeoffs and scalability constraints
Support rollouts with documentation, training, and technical enablement
Experience as a Developer, Systems Engineer, or similar technical role working with enterprise business systems
Hands-on experience with ATS or HRIS platforms (Workday, Greenhouse, SuccessFactors, Lever, or similar)
Experience building integrations using APIs, webhooks, or orchestration tools
Strong data skills and comfort working across multiple systems
Experience owning JIRA boards and cross-functional technical workflows
Proven ability to gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into scalable solutions
Track record of shipping meaningful system improvements in fast-moving environments
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience in Talent Acquisition, HR Tech, People Analytics, or Recruiting Operations
Experience supporting global recruiting processes and compliance needs
Familiarity with recruiting metrics (time to fill, funnel conversion, source performance, recruiter capacity)
Experience with incident management and root cause analysis

Greenhouse (including API integrations)

You are obsessed with eliminating repetitive work
You think in systems and see how workflows connect across tools
You separate symptoms from root causes
You are comfortable saying no when a request isn’t scalable
You focus on measurable outcomes, not just ticket completion
You thrive in autonomous, consultative environments
