Join a rapidly expanding inclusive hospitality company as their Human Resources Generalist and help build HR infrastructure during an exciting period of growth. This is a high-impact role supporting a VP of HR across a multi-state hospitality environment spanning boutique hotels, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, and entertainment venues.

You'll be joining a lean HR team that supports 500+ employees across multiple locations and time zones. This role offers significant autonomy, meaningful impact, and the chance to shape HR processes from the ground up in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization.

Responsibilities

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Provide hands-on HR guidance to operations teams across multiple states, ensuring consistent policy application
  • Maintain compliant employee documentation, records, and HR files
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local labor laws (with experience across NY and CA requirements)
  • Manage J1 and H2B visa hiring and processing for seasonal operations
  • Recommend and implement policy updates to ensure ongoing compliance

Employee Relations

  • Conduct thorough workplace investigations with discretion and fairness
  • Partner with managers on performance management, coaching, and development plans
  • Resolve employee relations issues and interpret company policies
  • Review terminations and provide guidance on progressive discipline

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Serve as primary contact for employee benefit programs and resolve inquiries
  • Administer leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA accommodations, Workers' Compensation)
  • Oversee benefits enrollment communications and assist with payroll coordination

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Partner with leadership to identify staffing needs and build job descriptions
  • Support full hiring lifecycle from sourcing through selection
  • Conduct and oversee onboarding for new team members

Systems Implementation & Process Improvement

  • Help implement and optimize ADP Workforce Now across all HR functions
  • Develop and organize policies and procedures before seasonal operations begin
  • Streamline HR processes to improve communication and response times
  • Build scalable HR infrastructure to support rapid organizational growth

Culture & Engagement

  • Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement across remote and on-site teams
  • Coordinate cultural activities and programs that enhance connection and collaboration

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of full-cycle HR experience including employee relations, compliance, and policy administration
  • Hospitality industry experience (bars, restaurants, entertainment environments)
  • Multi-state HR experience with strong knowledge of New York and California labor laws
  • English & Spanish fluency (written and spoken) - required to support diverse workforce
  • J1 and H2B visa process expertise
  • ER investigation experience - you know how to conduct thorough, fair investigations
  • Performance management expertise (metrics, reviews, development plans)
  • Remote work excellence - self-directed, organized, thrives working independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software

Strongly Preferred:

  • ADP Workforce Now experience
  • Payroll understanding
  • Startup or high-growth environment experience

Benefits

  • Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 (based on experience)
