SUMMARY
We are seeking a HR Business Partner to support our growing organization during an exciting phase of expansion. Reporting to the Principal HRBP, this role will be the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for our Japan-based employees, while providing critical support across the broader APJ region.
The HRBP will work closely with local leadership to provide advice, coaching, and tactical support to drive business objectives. This is a "hands-on" role that balances regional partnership with essential generalist activities. We are focused on candidates located in Tokyo with an expectation of hybrid working.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Regional Partnership: Act as the go-to HR resource for Japan while assisting the Principal HRBP in delivering HR services across the APJ region.
  • Manager Coaching: Guide and coach people managers on performance management, employee relations, and team effectiveness to build high-performing teams.
  • HR Operations & Payroll: Support generalist activities including collaborating with (but not owning) HR Ops and payroll to ensure compliance and accuracy for the Japan workforce.
  • Program Execution: Facilitate the implementation of core HR programs (Annual Reviews, Total Rewards, Engagement Surveys) within your client groups.
  • Scaling & Localization: Help build and scale HR processes from the ground up in Japan, ensuring global policies are localized and compliant with labor laws.
  • Talent Management: Partner with the Revenue team to support talent development, onboarding, and workforce planning to ensure we have the right skills in the right seats.
  • Data & Insights: Maintain and analyze HR metrics to identify trends in retention and engagement, providing actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Recruitment, Finance, and Legal to ensure seamless execution of the workforce plan and employee lifecycle changes.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • Experience: Roughly 5 years of experience in an HRBP or Generalist role  (or demonstrable equivalent), ideally within a fast-paced technology environment.
  • Language: Fluency in both Japanese and English (written and verbal) is required.
  • Japan Expertise: Deep knowledge of Japan labor law and HR practices is essential; prior experience supporting broader APJ territories is a strong plus.
  • Operational Mindset: Comfortable "rolling up your sleeves" to handle HR Ops and payroll-related matters alongside higher-level business partnering.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience supporting Director-level leadership and the ability to influence mid-to-senior management.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to work in a changing environment where processes are still being defined and built.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on problem-solving and employee experience.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to use data to tell a story and propose methods for continuous improvement.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the country where the position is based, without the need for visa sponsorship. This role does not offer visa sponsorship.
