The HR Business Partner serves as a strategic advisor to business leaders and helps scale a high-performing, values-driven organization. Reporting to the Head of HR, North America, this role will work closely with SquareTrade leadership to translate business priorities into people strategies that drive desired outcomes, engagement, and organizational effectiveness. The position also ensures a strong employee experience to attract, retain, and engage top talent within the organization. In this role, you’ll work in the office at least one day each week to ensure meaningful time spent collaborating and solving problems side by side with your clients and team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior leaders and people managers to align people strategy with business goals, advising on organizational design, workforce planning, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Lead change management efforts for complex organizational changes including developing clear communication strategies to ensure understanding,  transparency and engagement.
  • Advise, guide and coach leaders at all levels to effectively navigate the complexities of managing teams including how to effectively provide career development, driving a high-performance culture, strengthening conflict resolution strategies, etc.
  • Drive the lifecycle of performance management and investigation matters—from initial assessment and guidance, through execution and resolution—ensuring a balanced approach that prioritizes employee experience, compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Coach leaders on performance conversations, feedback, and change management to build confident, capable people managers.
  • Facilitate performance management processes, including calibration and talent review sessions, ensuring equitable, evidence-based decision-making.
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR Operations, Talent, Legal, and Finance to deliver integrated people solutions.
  • Use qualitative insights and data to surface trends and translate them into high-impact people strategies—ideating, designing, and evolving programs that advance business goals while enabling career growth and accountability.
  • Collaborate with other global HR functions (Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, IDE, etc..) in the design and implementation of people programs.
  • Ensure fair, competitive, and consistent pay practices by leveraging market data and internal equity analysis to guide compensation recommendations for hires, internal moves, and promotions.
  • Drive people initiatives from a place of inclusivity and provide counsel on the company’s Inclusive Diversity strategy and efforts.
  • Be an influential culture champion and collaborate on company-wide initiatives that help us strengthen our dispersed workplace.
  • Be highly visible within the teams in support of building a trusting, transparent, and constructive work environment.
  • Bachelors in HR, Management, or related field, with a value of continuing personal learning
  • 3 + yrs experience in HR with increasing complexity and scope, with 1+ yrs as a business partner supporting senior leadership
  • Expert in coaching and development, organizational effectiveness, and talent management.
  • Strong talent management experience, including assessment of talent gaps and developing solutions to close gaps and strengthen talent bench
  • Demonstrable experience influencing business leaders individually and collectively on people-related challenges and solutions
  • A strategic mindset, but can also deliver on tactical and operational issues
  • Passion for building and cultivating a diverse and inclusive work culture
  • Proven success working cross-functionally with an emphasis in coaching and performance management
  • High-energy and results-oriented with fundamental business acumen and the courage to respectfully challenge the status quo
  • Change management and project management skills
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and fast-paced work environment

SquareTrade estimates the possible base compensation for this role, if hired in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, to be in the range : $115K - $140K
