Role Overview:

The Housing Stabilization Specialist will act as a client advocate, conducts housing stabilization activities to ensure tenancy preservation for families who have transitioned into permanent housing across Massachusetts.  This role will conduct minimum monthly outreach to families and landlords and engage in tenancy preservation activities where appropriate.

This position requires regular on-site presence at the designated housing hub, and their assigned shelter location within Massachusetts. This position will require regular travel to various client locations during designated working hours. 

This position will focus on assisting families and individuals with their unique needs to maintain successful long-term housing. The Housing Stabilization Specialist will support housing initiatives, including but not limited to medical resources, school progress, and connecting families to other resources as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct housing stabilization activities to ensure tenancy preservation fro families who have transitioned out of CCA-supported family shelter sites into permanent housing
  • Demonstrate integrity and empathy by working with passion, commitment and honesty in the best interest of colleagues and members in a collaborative manner. 
  • Conduct at minimum, monthly outreach to families
  • Conduct at minimum, monthly outreach to the landlord
  • Medicate relationships between client/family  and landlord
  • Intervene if tenancy is endangered
  • Advocate for client/family with housing court
  • Routinely assess client/family needs as they evolve
  • Assist with medical care connections
  • Monitor family and children’s school progress
  • Document and update the Stabilization plan as required in ETO online platform
  • Document progress with ETO touchpoints
  • Collaborate with case managers and housing navigation liaisons to ensure smooth transitions of family support
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience providing intensive housing placement services preferred
  • Must be fluent in Haitian Creole and English, fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Valid Massachusetts Drivers License and consistent, reliable transportation with the ability to travel throughout Massachusetts during working hours is required.
  • Previous experience working within Emergency & Family Shelters settings is preferred
  • Experience working with individuals who have recently immigrated to the US, particularly from Haiti is preferred
  • Must be highly organized and self-directed with a proven ability to work with supervision on projects of a diverse nature
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills to communicate and work with staff and external partners of all skill and experience levels
  • Experience in shelters, social services or related environments supporting people with housing navigation.
  • Strong in identifying problems and opportunities for improvement with plans for resolution.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and create an atmosphere of trust and respect within project teams and with external partners
  • Intermediate Computer skills:  including Excel,  pivot tables, lookup functions, etc. and other Microsoft Office products. 
  • High sense of diplomacy to recognize politically sensitive issues
  • Ability to take personal initiative and work independently, as well as part of a team


Pay Rate: $30 per hour. This position is also eligible for standard company benefits.
