Ensure compliance with housing program regulations by processing case requests and maintaining accurate documentation within the NYCHA Leased Housing Department.
Under general supervision of the Manager and New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Leased Housing Department policies and procedures, the Housing Assistant will perform work in a timely and efficient manner to ensure prompt response to program requests while maintaining compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Process case suspensions, terminations, move-outs, and restorations in accordance with program policies, state and federal regulations, and HUD guidelines.
2. Conduct case reviews, including verification of household composition and income calculations.
3. Process participant transfer requests in compliance with established procedures.
4. Evaluate and process reasonable accommodation requests and payment adjustments.
5. Perform income and employment verifications using appropriate third-party documentation methods.
6. Create, review, and process payment adjustments accurately and timely.
7. Communicate program rules, regulations, and requirements to current and former participants clearly and professionally.
8. Review, respond to, and process information requests and correspondence.
9. Identify system performance issues and recommend enhancements or process improvements related to case management.
10.Maintain accurate and complete case documentation in the program system.
11.Perform other related duties as assigned.

HOUSING ASSISTANT (HA) - 80201
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
An associate degree or sixty semester credits from an accredited college and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in housing management at a development or developments containing at least 150 apartments, performing any one or a combination of the following duties: interviewing applicants; determining eligibility; gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints; collecting rents; and/or resolving tenant-related problems; or
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in “1” above; or
A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described in "1" or "2" above. Undergraduate college credit may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of satisfactory full-time experience. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent.
