Houdini Generalist - Launchpad Internship 2026

Framestore's 2026 Launchpad Internship offers talented, creative individuals the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at one of Europe’s leading creative studios. Interns will learn through studio work, presentations, a personal project, and informal meetups while collaborating on real projects with experienced artists and technologists. Previous interns have contributed to shows like One Piece, Project Hail Mary & How to Train Your Dragon.
We are looking for a budding Houdini Generalist who is eager to apply their technical and creative skills across the entire 3D pipeline. You'll be encouraged to see multiple areas of a project through from procedural modelling and UVs to lighting, lookdev, and compositing.
Requirements
Developing assets using non-destructive workflows for everything from photoreal hero props to stylised background elements.
Gaining hands-on experience in defining the final aesthetic, visual mood, and procedural shading of assets to ensure seamless integration.
Assisting in the creation of vast, procedural landscapes and cityscapes, utilising Houdini to build and dress complex 3D environments.
Collaborating with the 2D department to ensure CG layers are optimised for the final slap-comp in Nuke.
Helping manage complex scenes and data sets within our Linux-based pipeline.
Collaborating across disciplines to produce imagery ranging from photoreal live-action integration to stylised CG.
While we don't expect you to be an experienced TD. We are looking for candidates with a strong foundational "bridge" between technical logic and visual artistry.
Technical Essentials:
A solid working knowledge of Houdini is a must.
Foundational experience in lighting, rendering, and animation.
Familiarity with Arnold.
Basic experience with VEX and Python is highly desirable.
A basic understanding of the compositing process (ideally in Nuke).
An understanding of the CG mathematics required for rendering and optimisation.
Eligibility Criteria:
You must currently be in the final year of your studies (BA, MA, PhD etc) or have graduated in the past 12 months
You must be a UK resident or have a current resident, student or graduate VISA for the duration of the internship
