HIQA - Pedestrian Ramp Inspector

TLDR

Inspect and enforce compliance for pedestrian ramps and related infrastructure, conducting technical inspections and ensuring adherence to city regulations and safety standards.

The selected candidates will be assigned to the Pedestrian Ramp Enforcement Unit, inspecting permits before, during, and after the installation of pedestrian ramps; performs pedestrian ramp inspections ensuring that all pedestrian ramps installed by private contractors or utility companies complies with DOT’s and ADA specifications; S/he will be required to conduct surveys, investigate complaints and report on findings; perform technical work in the inspection of roadways, sidewalks, and street openings; inspects sites and/or private properties; monitor code compliance of commercial entities in their use of City streets and sidewalks; check permits and licenses; inspect for proper display of mandated signs and postings; maintains records and prepares comprehensive reports, logs, and sketches; responds to 311 complaints and requests for inspections; responds to email and priority complaints; issue violations and appears in court when required; issue corrective action requests as needed; conducts post audit/active inspections and corrective action request re-inspections through the usage of a computer tablet; attends field meetings when required; operate a passenger vehicle and monitor vehicle mileage; maintain field and office equipment and communication devices; perform related duties.

License Requirement
Must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
