Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking an experienced and autonomous Band 7 Highly Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join the team at Northwick Park Hospital. This locum role offers the opportunity to deliver expert care to children aged 0–5 and adolescents with dysphagia, autism, social communication differences, and complex needs across an acute hospital setting.

You will work primarily on the Acute Ward (Jack’s Place), supporting premature neonates, babies, children, and young people admitted to the Paediatric and Neonatal Wards. The role involves managing your own caseload and collaborating with medical and community colleagues to ensure effective communication and feeding support within the hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver highly specialist speech and language therapy services to children and adolescents with complex needs
  • Provide assessment and intervention for dysphagia and social communication differences
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams across health, education, and social care
  • Supervise and support SLTs and SLTAs in Harrow community settings
  • Lead departmental audits and service development projects
  • Deliver specialist training to professionals, parents/carers, and students
  • Participate in departmental meetings and receive clinical supervision from senior SLT colleagues

Requirements

  • HCPC registration (required)
  • Proven experience in paediatric dysphagia and complex communication needs
  • Ability to work independently and manage a specialist caseload
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and training skills
  • Experience in acute hospital and community settings (preferred)
