Heavy Equipment & Small Engine Service Technician

TLDR

We are seeking a Heavy Equipment & Small Engine Technician to support construction equipment maintenance operations in North Charleston, South Carolina. This full-time role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining construction fleet machinery, small engines, and job site power tools to ensure safe and reliable project operations.

The position requires a balance of shop-based mechanical repair work and field service support across North Charleston project locations. The technician will be responsible for preventative maintenance, equipment inspection, and performance testing after repairs to confirm operational safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosis and repair of construction equipment, small engines, and powered job site machinery
  • Hydraulic, fuel, electrical, and ignition system troubleshooting for operational efficiency
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and scheduled equipment inspections
  • Conduct post-repair testing to verify equipment reliability and safety standards
  • Maintain digital maintenance logs, service records, and inspection reports
  • Support equipment staging, deployment preparation, and service response across project sites
  • Follow OSHA, DOT, and workplace safety guidelines during all maintenance activities

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL certification preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in mechanical repair, field service work, or construction equipment maintenance preferred
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation and reporting
  • Ability to work independently in both shop and field environments
