IS THIS SOMETHING THAT INTERESTS YOU?

The Head of Engineering would be heavily involved in the migration of the platform to a new technology stack as well as support management of team resources spread across our modernisation, AI/Machine Learning, Mobile and Data teams. We have an infrastructure of engineers from Principal to Graduate that you will have oversight for as well as working with in close collaboration.

This role can be based in either Derry/Londonderry or Belfast.

The Head of Engineering will have significant experience working with .NET along with other skills including C#, JavaScript, React, SQL Server, Mongo and Webforms. Implement processes and metrics to ensure that the team is efficient and focused and that products are market ready.

In this role you will balance strategic resource planning and developing product roadmaps. You will accomplish this through close collaboration with the Foods Connected product teams and customer success teams. You will have oversight for growth of our award-winning team through involvement with hiring activities, as well as driving the successful delivery of platforms and products with input from our Chief Technical Officer, Architects and Principal Engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead, coach, and support a highly effective team of passionate engineers to foster a high-performance culture.
• Oversight of product planning and resource management within engineering team and communication of project updates to Senior Leadership team.
• Build trusting relationships and collaborate across departments to execute company strategy.                                                     
• Manage the delivery of software alongside our Product team, using Agile best practices including continuous deployment, continuous integration, and test-driven development.
• Enable a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and calibre of our engineering organisation.
• Ensure the team fully understands the goals and objectives of Foods Connected as a company and how their work fits into the bigger picture.
• Be able to undertake hands on development for the core monolithic system based on the product roadmap alongside delivering on the modernisation project to the new tech stack.
• Problem solve code issues in the system and lead the teams on execution to quickly resolve for our customers.
• Ensure that code quality and system performance targets are being delivered on and taking action where required to resolve any potential problems.
• Perform day-to-day project management to ensure successful, on-time releases; demonstrate ownership and accountability for the team’s delivery.                                 
• Consults with customers or other departments on project status, proposals, or technical issues, such as software system design or maintenance.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, the Head of Engineering should have experience with:

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field or 10+ years’ experience in a Development role, and relevant experience in managing large software projects and teams.

Technical Skills

• Proven experience leading agile engineering teams.
• Demonstrated experience leading and contributing to design, development, delivery and maintenance of large-scale and high performing platforms.
• Strong Technical Skills Across: C#, JavaScript, React, .NET, Webforms, SQL Server, Mongo, MariaDB
