Role Overview

We're seeking a Head of Physical Security to build and lead Harvey's physical security program from the ground up. You'll design and implement security policies, runbooks, and incident response procedures while standardizing and modernizing building security technology across our office locations. This role is responsible for establishing a comprehensive physical security function, including access control, surveillance, visitor management, emergency response planning, vendor and guard force management, and building management relationships.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned physical security leader who has built programs from scratch in a high-growth environment, can operate independently, and brings deep expertise in corporate security best practices, building security technology, and cross-functional stakeholder management.

What You'll Do

  • Build the Physical Security Program: Design and implement Harvey's physical security strategy, including governance documents, physical security policies, standards, and site security plans.

  • Develop Runbooks & Incident Response: Create and maintain runbooks for physical security incidents, including clear escalation paths, after-action reviews, and integration with HR, Legal, IT, and Communications for cross-functional incidents.

  • Standardize Building Security Technology: Evaluate, standardize, and upgrade access control systems (badges, mobile credentials, biometrics), video surveillance (CCTV/VMS), intrusion detection systems, and visitor management systems across all Harvey offices.

  • Manage Security Services & Vendors: Own relationships with contracted security guard services, establish and manage vendor and guard force SLAs (service levels, training requirements, post orders, and escalation criteria), and oversee security services on retainer.

  • Building Management Relationships: Serve as the primary point of contact with building management teams across Harvey's office locations, coordinating on access control integration, CCTV requirements, after-hours access, and building security protocols.

  • Training & Awareness: Drive security awareness programs for all employees, including tailgating prevention, badge use, and reporting suspicious behavior, as well as specialized training for reception, facilities, and security personnel.

  • Compliance & Audit: Conduct internal audits of access logs, video coverage, and alarm response times; ensure regulatory alignment with workplace safety regulations and applicable standards.

  • Team Building: Hire and develop additional physical security personnel as the program matures and the company scales.

What You Have

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in corporate physical security, global security, or a related field, with demonstrated experience building a physical security program from the ground up.

  • Deep knowledge of access control systems, video surveillance platforms, intrusion detection, and visitor management technologies.

  • Experience managing security guard services, vendor contracts, and SLAs for physical security operations.

  • Proven ability to develop physical security policies, standards, site security plans, and emergency response procedures.

  • Experience working with building management and landlords on security protocols, access control integration, and tenant security requirements.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, especially with non-technical teams.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and global environment.
