  9. Improve and introduced cost saving methods

  10. Handle grievances of all the staff in the production department

  11. Ensure that all the machinery are in good condition

  12. Review performance of all the staff in the production by the year end

  13. Ensure that the preventive and breakdown maintenance of production and non production machinery is carried out

  14. Recruit, select, train and develop staff of the department according to the HR plan

  15. Ensure all the samples are done according to the specifications

  16. Ensure the quotations given are correct and competitive  

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY & CONTROLS

 

Wide discretion to make decisions within the production department subject to policies and procedures of the company. There is also the ability to influence decisions at a higher level.  

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: With all production staff, heads of other departments & the General manager

External: With service providers and suppliers, others in the textile, printing industry production engineering trade, customers, production heads & technical people in other Avery sites. 

PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB

  3. Suppliers  pricing issues

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

Minimum : NDT in mechanical or production engineering with at least 10 years experience in the textile or other related industry of which 3 – 5 years must be in a senior managerial capacity. A degree in the fields specified and post graduate qualifications in industrial engineering, business, finance etc would be preferable. Good interpersonal skills, ability to manage a team for results, very good communication skills in both English & Sinhala, computing skills, excellent knowledge of the textile industry, ability to coach and mentor factory staff, ability to spot strengths and weaknesses in team members and a methodical approach to work are required. Additionally, leadership skills, team building skills, and conceptual skills are required.
