We are launching our second product in 2026 and will be expanding into the broader practice-operations layers such as Finance, HR, payroll, benefits, and back-office workflows—building toward a full dental practice operating system.
Torch Dental is at the Series B stage with strong revenue growth, rapidly expanding products, and increasingly exciting engineering challenges. This role is an opportunity to lead the engineering team that architects and maintains the platform that services thousands of dental practices.
Role Overview:
We are hiring a Head of Engineering to lead Torch’s engineering organization through its next stage of scale. This is the top technical leadership role at Torch, responsible for the engineering organization, architecture, and technical strategy. This role functions as the senior-most engineering leader and partner to the CEO, with the opportunity to evolve into a CTO role as the organization scales.
Responsibilities:
Establish the architectural vision and engineering strategy across products.
Drive decisions on platform modularization, infrastructure, data, reliability, and integrations.
Lead and grow an engineering organization capable of executing across multiple product lines in parallel.
Lead existing product feature development: catalog, search, ordering, payments, vendor integrations, logistics.
Oversee new product launches: Architecture and development strategy and execution of launching and scaling new products.
Lead engineers in building regulatory compliant and scalable multi product platform.
Own engineering excellence: velocity, reliability, architecture, security, and quality.
Lead team of NYC based engineers and add team capacity expansion initiatives.
Recruit and coach backend, frontend, and other engineering talent.
Serve as engineering representative working cross functionally with all other business teams.
What we are looking for:
8+ years experience building and scaling engineering teams in high-growth SaaS.
3+ years in leadership and people management with a track record of success coaching and development of team members.
Demonstrated architectural leadership in complex, integrated environments.
Strong cross-functional partnership with Product, GTM, and Customers.
