Head of Internal Audit

The Head of Internal Audit leads the Internal Audit Function and provides independent assurance to the Board of Directors Committee. The role ensures that governance, risk management, and internal controls across the organization are effective and aligned with the relevant Bank of Greece (BoG) supervisory framework, EU regulatory expectations, and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the risk-based annual audit plan covering all business and support functions;
• Report key findings, risks, and recommendations to the senior management and BoD;
• Ensure that the Internal Audit Function operates in line with IIA Standards and maintains full independence;
• Assess the organization’s compliance with the relevant BoG framework for relative regulated businesses and internal policies;
• Support regulatory inspections and ensure timely follow-up on required actions;
• Audit end-to-end regulated businesses and processes;
• Review operational processes, financial controls, outsourcing arrangements, and fraud prevention measures;
• Assess IT general controls, cybersecurity, change management, and data integrity supporting lending and customer operations;
• Evaluate the effectiveness of AML/CFT controls, onboarding processes, and monitoring systems;
• Ensure adherence to customer protection standards and responsible lending principles;
• Produce clear, concise audit reports and track the implementation of corrective actions;
• Maintain quality assurance processes for Internal Audit;

• Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the continued implementation of the Group Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy;
• Actively ensuring compliance with the Group's Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy and all applicable regulations, identifying and reporting potential risks related to bribery and corruption, and promoting ethical behavior by participating in and encouraging continuous training and awareness initiatives.

Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field;
• 12+ years of experience in internal audit or risk from financial services sector;
• Strong understanding of credit processes, risk management, and financial sector regulation;
• Audit Certifications (CIA, CISA, CFE, ACA, ACCA) are a plus;
• Data analytics experience is considered a plus;
• Strong analytical and communication skills;
• High integrity, professional skepticism, and independence;
• Ability to manage multiple audits and lead a small audit team.
