Head of Impact - Part time

AI overview

Lead the evolution of a positive-impact travel agenda while shaping strategic partnerships and enhancing industry standards for sustainability.

Our Mission

Much Better Adventures exists to prove that travel can be a powerful force for good. Our ambition is nothing less than to lead the world in positive-impact adventure travel - setting new standards for how tourism can support conservation and create lasting local economic impact.

We believe the future of travel isn’t about doing less harm. It’s about creating more good. And we believe adventure travel, when done right, can play a major role in tackling our society's biggest challenges.

The Opportunity

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape the future of positive impact travel.

We are looking for an ambitious leader to elevate and evolve our impact strategy, bringing fresh thinking, bold ideas and a challenger mindset to an industry that urgently needs it. Someone who is energised by the chance to question norms, push boundaries, and help redefine what “responsible travel” really means.

You will work directly alongside the CEO to expand the direction, ambition and parameters of our impact strategy - and you’ll have the full backing of the business to bring it to life. This is not a role about maintaining frameworks or ticking boxes; it’s about innovation, leadership and influence, both inside Much Better Adventures and across the wider travel industry.

The Role

As Head of Impact, you will own the evolution and delivery of Much Better Adventures’ impact agenda - ensuring impact is embedded at the heart of how we operate, grow, partner and tell our story.

The role spans two interconnected dimensions:

  • Vision & Strategy: Working with the CEO to define what leadership in positive-impact travel looks like, and shaping the strategy to deliver it - setting ambition, priorities, principles and framework
  • Activation & Influence: Turning that vision into reality with our hosts, and through powerful industry engagement

You’ll collaborate closely with Operations, Expansion, Product, Marketing and Leadership, and act as a senior external voice for Much Better Adventures on impact and innovation. This is a newly created role and you will report directly to the CEO.

Where You’ll Make an Impact

Rather than a fixed checklist, this role offers the opportunity to shape and lead across areas such as:

Impact Measurement & Industry Leadership

  • Supporting partnerships to oversee the development of robust impact measurement frameworks and labels
  • Helping position Much Better Adventures as a thought leader and challenger brand in positive-impact travel

Gold Standard Operations & Host Impact

  • Leading the evolution of our Gold Standard Operations, in close partnership with our Operations team
  • Driving host-level improvements across carbon reduction, animal welfare, fair pay and community benefit
  • Shaping our approach to carbon contributions, insetting and nature-based solutions

Foundations, Funds & Philanthropy

  • Setting the strategic direction for Much Better Adventures’ philanthropic activity
  • Leading key partnerships (e.g. World Land Trust) and identifying new opportunities
  • Designing and delivering a Host Positive Impact Fund to support locally led initiatives focused on biodiversity, climate resilience and community impact

Governance, Reporting & Credibility

  • Acting as B Corp lead, owning recertification and continuous improvement
  • Ensuring our impact claims, reporting and storytelling are credible, transparent and industry-leading

Storytelling, Advocacy & Influence

  • Acting as an external spokesperson and advocate for impact-led travel, alongside the CEO
  • Championing impact thinking internally, inspiring teams across the business
  • Working with Marketing to weave impact meaningfully through the customer journey
  • Creating systems for powerful host and community stories to be shared externally
