The Head of Identity Security will lead the strategy, design, and execution of enterprise-wide identity and access management, ensuring secure, scalable, and automated access across all systems, applications, and cloud environments. This role blends strategic vision with hands-on technical delivery, driving advanced access controls, zero-trust initiatives, and automation-first identity operations. You will partner with senior leaders to embed identity as a core enabler of security and operational efficiency, while mentoring and leading a high-performing engineering team. The position offers the opportunity to shape architectural decisions, implement modern identity technologies, and enhance the organization’s overall security posture. Accountabilities:
- Own and lead the end-to-end enterprise Identity strategy, ensuring secure, scalable, and automated access across all environments.
- Set and enforce standards for authentication, authorization, and access governance aligned with Zero Trust and least-privilege principles.
- Manage and mature the Identity ecosystem, including IDPs such as Okta, ensuring strong governance and continuous modernization.
- Integrate applications and implement advanced access controls, including just-in-time access and granular entitlements.
- Shape architectural decisions across authentication, authorization, and identity lifecycle management.
- Drive automation-first identity operations, eliminating manual workflows through Infrastructure-as-Code and policy-as-code.
- Partner with senior technology and business leaders to embed identity into operational processes and strategic initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Identity Engineering team, promoting engineering excellence and high performance.
- Serve as the organization’s authority on identity, elevating best practices and strengthening overall security posture.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Identity Engineering / IAM, with a proven track record of enterprise-scale identity initiatives.
- Strong hands-on expertise with modern IDPs (Okta preferred), including complex integrations, federation, and platform governance.
- Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and authentication/authorization architectures.
- Proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code for designing and maintaining identity infrastructure.
- Scripting/programming experience for automating identity workflows and lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience implementing Zero Trust, least privilege, just-in-time access, and granular entitlements.
- Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Strong strategic mindset with hands-on technical delivery capabilities to achieve measurable outcomes.
