Head of HR - Company Shop Group

Company Shop Group, part of Biffa, is the largest commercial redistributor of surplus food and household products in the UK, enabling some of the biggest retailers, manufacturers, food service and logistics providers to unlock value from surplus stock, which may have otherwise gone to waste.

An exciting opportunity has a risen for a dynamic and experienced individual for the role of Head of HR. In this role, you will provide a proactive HR Business Partnering service to the Managing Director and the CSG leadership team. This will cover issues including but not exclusive to performance management, talent management, succession planning, employee engagement and employee relations. Whilst supporting CSG, the role is part of our UK wide Biffa HR team being able to pull on expertise in the Biffa’s centres of excellence.

Your core responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted business partner to the MD and Directors of CSG on all people matters in the proactive support of CSG’s strategic and commercial business objectives
  • Lead a HR team, providing business partnering, advice, onboarding and HR administration
  • Develop and deploy an annual People Plan for CSG that integrates both Biffa group wide programmes and initiatives and CSG operational priorities
  • Support the Directors and their leadership teams in the identification and nurturing of talent, succession planning and strategic recruitment where appropriate
  • Lead the implementation of performance management, and support management development and other learning and development programmes and initiatives that embed a high performance culture
  • Actively coach and support the CSG leadership team to fully embed employee engagement at all levels within CSG, such that effective and relevant action plans are developed and deployed resulting in enhanced levels of employee engagement
  • Provide leadership on wider HR projects that include significant business change
  • Role model the leadership behaviours and coach and develop a team of HR professionals to deliver superior service to their key stakeholders and teams

Our essential requirements

  • Level 7 CIPD qualified
  • Minimum 5 years commercial HR experience in a decision making role
  • Experience managing and developing a HR team in a multi site organisation
  • Conversant with all employment related codes of practice
  • Analytical and able to quickly assess issues and recommend and/or implement solutions
