Head of finance

Job brief We are looking for a Head of Finance for one of the companies within the VEON Group, a mid-size organization with around 50 employees. This role will oversee a finance team of approximately 10 specialists. The candidate must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from accounting and tax to strategic planning and business steering, risk management, internal controls and treasury. Procurement and Supply Chain Management (“SCM”) will be also part of the function. The ideal candidate will be a charismatic and versatile leader, who can partner with, coach and advice to the senior management team and CEO. The goal of the role is to actively drive the company’s strategy and business plan for the value growthin close partnership with CEO and the management team,protect and develop the company’s revenues, assets, and profits, ensure strong control and compliance environment as required for a public group traded in European and US stock exchanges.   Responsibilities Lead business and financial steering from strategy development to execution Being a trusted financial partner to CEO, Company Board and the management team Drive the company’s financial planning, reporting and analysis Effectively manage the investment portfolio Lead operational excellence and cost efficiency Build a solid managerial reporting, including for the management team and Board members Strengthen and develop accounting and tax function covering both Ukrainian and international (IFRS) standards Set up and maintain thorough risk management and internal controls system Ensure effective cash planning and cash management Develop and actively manage procurement and SCM function Review and develop the company’s finance processes and systems Set-up and maintain the rigorous system of policies and controls to ensure compliance with the Ukrainian and international laws and regulations being a part of an international listed group of companies Build, strengthen and develop teams for finance, procurement and SCM functions Effectively manage internal and external auditors’ relations and engagements   Requirements and skills Proven Head of Finance experience of a mid-size or large business of at least 5 years, preferably in IT or tech services industry Good knowledge of Ukrainian and IFRS accounting standards, respective legislation, and practices Deep understanding and practical experience with Ukrainian taxation system and legislation Excellent business steering and strategic planning skills Experienced is setting up and automating finance processes, ESS and financial planning systems (Oracle, SAP, MS Dynamics or similar) Strong leadership and organizational skills Excellent executive communication and presentation skills Fluent English (both written and oral) Strong resilience to stress, crisis management and dealing with various types of stakeholders. Structural and critical thinking, strategic and operations challenger type of person with strong analytical skills MSc/MBA in Accounting, Finance, Economics and Business or relevant field ACCA, CPA, CIMA certification is a strong plus Experience in setting up and running procurement and SCM functions is a plus
