Role Summary
The Head of Engineering at Eagle Eye Solutions is responsible for leading the engineering organization and for driving the evolution of the company’s cloud based technology platform to a more cloud-native SaaS architecture taking advantage of the emerging AI coding tools.
This role owns engineering strategy, delivery, and operational performance, ensuring Eagle Eye continues to deliver a highly reliable, secure platform for enterprise retail customers while executing a deliberate, multi-year technology transformation. The Head of Engineering is a senior leader who combines technical credibility, people leadership, and change management expertise

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Transformation
- Define and execute the engineering strategy that supports Eagle Eye’s transition to a cloud-native, service-oriented architecture.
- Establish and communicate clear architectural principles, standards, and target-state designs.
- Lead the organization through architectural change while maintaining platform stability and customer trust.
- Act as a senior technical leader and escalation point for complex technical decisions.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, develop, and coach engineering managers, technical leaders, and teams.
- Build cloud-native, DevOps, and platform engineering capabilities through upskilling and hiring.
- Set clear performance expectations, career pathways, and succession plans.
- Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
Delivery & Execution
- Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of product features and platform modernization initiatives.
- Partner closely with Product Management to sequence transformation work alongside commercial priorities.
- Own delivery and engineering health metrics including reliability, throughput, quality, and technical debt.
- Improve Agile delivery practices while adapting them to a transformation context.
Architecture & Technical Governance
- Work with key stakeholders to manage the transition from tightly coupled or monolithic systems to distributed, cloud-native services.
- Guide and review key design and implementation decisions.
- Drive adoption of CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and resilience patterns.
- Balance team autonomy with architectural consistency and governance.
Operational Excellence & Risk Management
- Maintain high availability, performance, and security throughout the transformation journey.
- Lead incident management, post-incident reviews, and service improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security, data protection, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage engineering budgets, day to day cloud spend, and third-party technology partners.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in software engineering, including leadership of multiple teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical change or platform modernization.
- Strong understanding of Google Cloud platform, distributed systems, and SaaS operating models.
- Ability to communicate clearly with engineers, product leaders, and executives.
- Degree in Computer Science or Engineering is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience leading cloud-native transformation programs.
- Experience operating mission-critical platforms for enterprise customers.
- Familiarity with retail technology, loyalty, promotions, or high-volume transactional systems.
- Experience in publicly listed, regulated, or high-governance environments.
