About the role:The Head of Data will lead Plenti’s data, analytics and business intelligence capability, redefining how data is generated, governed and leveraged across the organisation. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for scaling our modern Databricks-based platform, building a best-in-class BI function, and driving the shift from retrospective reporting to forward-looking, automated decisioning embedded within customer and operational journeys.
Partnering closely with Risk, Finance, Product, Marketing, Sales and Operations, the Head of Data will shape the strategy, operating model and culture needed to position data as a core enabler of growth, risk management and operational performance.
Success in this role will require strong commercial acumen, a proven track record of building and leading high-performing data teams, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive business decisions.
Key responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Execution
Define and execute a clear data strategy aligned to Plenti’s growth, risk and efficiency objectives
Map how data is generated and used across the business and identify opportunities to unlock incremental value
Translate strategic priorities into a sequenced roadmap with clear ownership, milestones and outcomes
Balance rapid delivery of high-impact use cases with long-term platform and capability build
Business Intelligence & Insights
Establish a best-in-class BI capability as the single source of truth for business performance, defining and governing core metrics, semantic layers and reporting standards
Replace manual and fragmented reporting with scalable, automated BI solutions accessible to executives, teams and partners
Lead the evolution from descriptive reporting (“what happened”) to diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights
Partner with the business — Risk, Finance, Product, Marketing, Sales and Operations — to deliver analytics that improve credit performance, pricing, customer acquisition and conversion, and operational efficiency
Embed actionable insights into workflows through dashboards, alerts and tools that empower business users to act
Platform, Architecture and Governance
Own the data platform — the design and evolution of our Databricks-based environment, ensuring scalable, reliable and cost-effective pipelines and architecture
Productionise models in partnership with Engineering, Risk and Product, embedding them into customer and operational workflows
Implement robust governance across data quality, lineage, privacy and regulatory compliance
Leadership and Operating Model
Lead a high-performing team across data engineering, BI and analytics
Define the operating model that maximises impact and alignment across data disciplines
Foster a data-driven culture built on continuous improvement and shared accountability
Stakeholder Engagement
Advocate for data across the business, partnering with executives to identify high-value use cases and drive adoption
Report transparently on data platform performance, usage, ROI and risk
Establish cross-functional forums to align on priorities, resolve issues and drive execution
About you:
You are a senior data leader who operates at the intersection of strategy, technology, and business. You combine strong technical depth with commercial acumen and are known for leading transformational change—shifting organisations from fragmented reporting toward cohesive, insight-driven decision-making.
You bring a balance of hands-on understanding and strategic leadership, with the ability to engage deeply on platform, architecture, and analytics while influencing at executive level.
You will have:
10+ years' of experience, with 5 years in leadership across large-scale data and analytics teams in complex, regulated organisations
Proven experience transitioning organisations from reporting-led models to intelligence-led, insight-driven environments
Strong track record of building, leading, and scaling high-performing, multidisciplinary data teams
Demonstrated success in delivering data strategies that translate into measurable business outcomes
Deep expertise across modern cloud data platforms (e.g. Databricks), data engineering, BI, and advanced analytics / AI/ML
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders
Experience in financial services or lending is highly regarded; experience operating in a regulated environment is essential
