
Vivo Energy Côte d'Ivoire is looking for a Head of controls for its Finance Department.
The Head of Controls plays a key role in enhancing and optimizing efficiency of financial operations and process, Ensuring security of assets and data quality of financial information, fiscal and other local reporting.
This requires working with Business Finance, Business, and external parties including auditors, fiscal authorities, regulation bodies, etc.
Requirements
Principal Accountabilities:
1. To plan, organize and carry out the internal controls function including the preparation of an audit manual, audit plan, scheduling and assigning work and estimating resource needs.
2. Conduct risk assessment of departments/functional areas in accordance with timelines.
3. Conduct audit testing of potential risk areas and identify reportable issues
4. To conduct any reviews or tasks requested by Management
5. Actively participates in the development of Internal Control policies ensuring that they are relevant to Vivo Energy Cote d’Ivoire operating environment.
6. Develop and implement appropriate operating procedures to ensure compliance with VE global policies and local laws.
7. Ensure compliance with existing VE financial policies and procedures, identifying & proposing modifications as needed.
8. Monitor and provide advice to management to minimize risk resulting from poor internal controls.
9. Identify areas of financial and administrative strengths and weaknesses and develop best practices.
10. Review the responses to internal and external audit management letter queries to ensure that recommendations are implemented; follow-up on audit action plan to ensure that all action items are resolved before the next annual audit
11. Provide management with periodic reports on compliance with VE Standards.
12. Provide training to staffs on Internal Control
Key Challenges:
Challenges include developing a strong understanding of the business which each manager supports, including its operations, risks, and control environment.
Incumbent must be able to direct and coach teams, multi-task, prioritize, and realize efficiencies in performing the assigned responsibilities, be able to effectively present and support audit results to all levels of management, and demonstrate courage, integrity, and influencing skills.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Experiences:
- Minimum Bac+4 / Business school Finance/economics bachelor or master’s degree or similar knowledge via work experience
- 6– 10 years’ experience, combined, external auditor in a reputable international audit firm (minimum 4 years) and internal controller experience in a multinational group (minimum 2 years) with profound knowledge in accounting, finance & Business Management with an emphasis on fit for purpose controls, Audit, Internal control, Risk management, and Treasury.
- Experience in writing internal policies and procedures and process evaluation and documentation
- A demonstrated knowledge of finance, accounting, and internal controls
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills. Detail oriented and ability to work and interpret figures and other financial information.
- Strong communication skills – both oral and written.
