Head of Compliance

TLDR

Lead and enhance ANNA Money's compliance function, overseeing regulatory obligations and building a robust compliance framework for a fast-growing fintech.

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Compliance to lead and strengthen ANNA Money’s regulatory and compliance function in Australia.

You’ll own compliance across a growing regulated product set spanning business accounts, cards, payments, and lending. This is not a “keep the lights on” compliance role. You’ll be expected to build the framework, partner closely with Product, Operations and Leadership, and help ANNA scale in a way that is fast, commercially aware, and regulator-ready.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining our existing licences and registrations, progressing new licensing work, overseeing regulatory obligations, and helping shape the next stage of ANNA’s compliance maturity in Australia.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and continuously improve ANNA Money Australia’s compliance framework across regulated products and services
  • Lead day-to-day compliance oversight for AFSL / ACL / AML-CTF related obligations and ensure the business operates within approved permissions and controls
  • Act as a senior compliance partner to Product, Operations, Credit, and Commercial teams so new products and changes are launched safely and pragmatically
  • Manage regulatory relationships and regulatory engagement with bodies such as ASIC, AUSTRAC, and external partners as required
  • Oversee breach, incident, complaint, and reporting processes, including ensuring issues are identified, escalated, and resolved properly
  • Maintain and evolve core compliance artefacts including policies, registers, monitoring plans, control frameworks, and board / management reporting
  • Support licensing workstreams and ongoing obligations across existing and future regulatory permissions
  • Oversee outsourced / partner compliance dependencies across key external providers, schemes, and vendors
  • Embed a strong compliance culture internally through training, coaching, and clear operating standards
  • Work closely with leadership on medium-term regulatory capability building, including helping ANNA mature toward a more sophisticated regulated operating model over time

Requirements

Requirements

  • Significant experience in compliance, legal/compliance, or regulatory risk within Australian financial services
  • Strong working knowledge of the Australian regulatory environment across some combination of AFSL, ACL, AML/CTF, payments, cards, lending, and financial services conduct obligations
  • Experience operating in a regulated fintech, bank, lender, payments business, or similarly complex financial services environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build and improve compliance frameworks, not just maintain inherited ones
  • Comfortable working closely with product and commercial teams and balancing pace with control
  • Strong judgement, personal accountability, and ability to operate calmly in ambiguity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief executives and translate regulatory issues into business decisions
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional work to completion

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting or leading AFSL / ACL applications, variations, or ongoing licence management
  • Experience working with ASIC and/or AUSTRAC directly
  • Experience in cards, principal issuing, business lending, or payments infrastructure
  • Experience with outsourced / third-party distribution or corporate authorised representative models
  • Exposure to board or executive-level governance processes
  • Interest in helping build the compliance foundations for a larger, more sophisticated regulated business over time
