About the role

As Head of AI Product for Search, Recommendations and Personalisation, you will lead a team of AI Product Managers responsible for defining and executing our AI product strategy across a candidate's career discovery journey.

AI products at SEEK are developed by cross-functional teams of AI Product Managers, Data Scientists and Engineers, working together to define, build, test and scale AI solutions for our most important and complex customer and business problems. You will work closely with Data Science and Engineering leaders to guide three AI squads, namely Search, Recommendations and Personalisation. These three squads are collectively referred to as Career Discovery, and power how candidates discover their next career opportunity.

In this role, you will define, align and communicate the Career Discovery ambition, which connects to SEEK's strategy and candidate needs and identifies opportunities to unlock value through AI and data. You will represent the SEEK AI team with senior stakeholders across Product, Strategy, Commercial and Sales, influencing the company's broader strategy, product ambitions and roadmaps.

Responsibilities

  • Align with technical co-leaders of the Search, Recommendations and Personalisation AI problem domain to articulate a strategy, ambition and compelling vision. The ambition needs to bring together a deep understanding of the current and future customer opportunities, SEEK’s strategy and product ambitions, and how to unlock value using AI and data.
  • Lead AI Product Managers to build a deep understanding of customer needs, met, unmet, stated and unstated, and product partners’ strategies and priorities.
  • Focus teams on solving critical customer problems of high strategic and commercial importance, informed by a variety of customer immersion, quant and qual methodologies.
  • Drive an overall roadmap for the problem domain that articulates what we need to do to achieve our ambition over a  3–5-year horizon.  Includes articulating resource and investment needs for the domain and achieving buy in from key stakeholders & partners on the sequencing and resourcing for the roadmap.
  • Coach teams to collaborate with partner product teams, SEEK strategy and technical teams to solve problems and drive effective decisions: defining ambiguous problem spaces, framing options and trade-offs.
  • Work with other AI leaders to set expectations for and support teams to design analytical and technical solutions, including MVP services and experiments to validate the solution and iterate quickly. Drive a culture and practice of experimentation that focuses on clear business goals, linked metrics and best practice experimentation methodology.
  • Own the performance of your product portfolio by defining success metrics with partners, creating a data driven understanding of performance and how it supports the broader marketplace. Build a culture where domain teams monitor product, competitive, market and technical metrics, identifying issues and prioritising product improvements.
  • Ensure the delivery of the roadmap by aligning senior stakeholders around priorities and resourcing, guiding teams to set and deliver the right quarterly objectives, and helping remove roadblocks for teams.
  • Hire, inspire and lead a high performing team. Coach and support team members to continuously improve their product practice. Create a culture and environment that empowers teams to deliver and innovate.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record of developing and communicating a clear strategy, distilling complex concepts into simple, clear frameworks and guidance
  • Strong experience leading and empowering high performing product teams to deliver customer outcomes
  • Commercial acumen and a sound grasp of mathematics and analytical concepts, including the ability to break down product and commercial performance into clear drivers and present insights effectively
  • High learning orientation, with an interest in the latest AI concepts and the ability to stay current with industry trends in a rapidly changing environment

  • Experience in online marketplaces
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and effectively influence across a complex stakeholder environment
  • Ability to engage with and inspire technical teams
  • An ability to break constraints and get things done, including a willingness to roll-up your sleeves and ‘pitch in’ where required
