Hardware Test Engineer

TLDR

Support the design and implementation of test systems for a medical device platform while automating testing processes and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

We are seeking a Hardware Test Engineer on a contract basis to support the design and implementation of test systems for our medical device platform. This is a project-based engagement focused on establishing structured and repeatable hardware testing processes. The role is hands-on and requires onsite work in Kitchener, Ontario. 

The Hardware Test Engineer will contribute to the development of in-house test environments, assist with building and refining test setups, and support the implementation of reliable testing methodologies. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience implementing hardware testing processes. Experience working within ISO regulated quality management systems 9001 and or 13485 is considered an asset.  

What You’ll Do 

  • Own the design of all test setups for in-house and manufacturing testing and drive the test environment towards full automation 
  • Guide the DFT requirements for all of our products for our new Medical Device launching in 2026 
  • Lead the design requirements for functional and ICT PCB testing and final product test harness 
  • Participate in design reviews for all active designs to ensure test requirements have been met 
  • Design test plans and test cases to validate new products and improve existing products 

Who You Are 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical discipline 
  • Hardware design experience (schematic and layout) 
  • Embedded software development with proficiency in C and C++ 
  • Experience with one or more CAD tools (Altium, Eagle, Allegro, KiCad, Upverter, etc.) 
  • Comfortable in a lab environment and experience using standard tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, VNA’s, etc. 
  • Working knowledge of Python scripting in a test environment 
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues 
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to drive design decisions and implement well-documented processes
