Growth - Business Development Director (Japan)

Substance is on the lookout for a visionary Growth - Business Development Director (Japan) to be a pivotal force in expanding our client presence in the Japanese market. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of the local business landscape and a passion for driving growth in the cloud services sector.

In this strategic role, you will lead efforts in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, forming strategic partnerships, and ensuring the successful execution of key initiatives that align with our company’s vision and growth objectives.

Note: This is a local position that does not offer visa sponsorship. You will also need to be bilingual in English and Japanese

Responsibilities

    • Market Leadership: Define and implement comprehensive business development strategies to drive growth and establish Substance as a leader in the Japanese cloud solutions market.
    • Strategic Partnerships: Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships that enhance our service offerings and expand our market reach in Japan.
    • Business Development: Proactively seek and secure new business opportunities through networking, targeted outreach, and leveraging existing relationships.
    • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with their needs and fostering an environment of trust.
    • Sales Oversight: Lead the sales team in achieving revenue targets by devising effective sales strategies and overseeing execution.
    • Performance Monitoring: Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and client feedback to continuously refine business strategies and drive results.
    • Team Development: Mentor and develop the business development team, fostering an environment of learning and growth.
    • Reporting: Provide regular updates to the executive team on business development activities, opportunities, and market insights.

Requirements

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field, with a proven track record in the tech industry.
    • Strong understanding of the Japanese market dynamics, with a network of contacts across the technology and cloud services sectors.
    • Proven experience in building and leading high-performing teams, with a focus on results and collaboration.
    • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers at all levels.
    • A strategic thinker with the ability to turn insights into actionable plans.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Fluency in Japanese and English is mandatory.
    • A degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
