Position Summary

We're looking for a General Manager to lead our Memphis region, which includes Home Town Disposal and any future locations, new lines of businesses, and/or acquisitions. As General Manager, you'll be responsible for all aspects of performance for the region, including growth, operations, maintenance, safety and customer service. This role will report directly to the executive leadership team of Greenmark. You'll own the day-to-day operations and the region's P&L, working hands-on with your team to ensure safe, efficient collection operations across all our service lines and to drive top-line growth.

You'll have three direct reports—a Customer Service Supervisor, a Route Manager, and a Fleet Manager—and will initially lead a team of 55-60 people. You'll oversee collection activities, partner with our Fleet Manager on maintenance initiatives, collaborate with the sales team to drive growth, and work alongside senior leadership on strategic expansion plans. This role champions customer satisfaction, safety, and our company culture while ensuring we meet all safety, environmental, regulatory, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations and support your team to deliver quality performance and maintain safety
  • Monitor financial and operational metrics, identifying opportunities to improve processes and results
  • Develop short and long-term goals for operations and sales in partnership with senior management
  • Optimize fleet utilization, maintenance programs, and labor costs
  • Participate in regular P&L reviews to stay on track with budget and operational plans
  • Champion safety programs that prevent accidents and create a productive work environment for everyone
  • Maximize route efficiency across commercial, roll-off, and residential services while managing labor hours and disposal costs
  • Build relationships with customers and government officials to grow the business, resolve concerns, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate daily with sales, customer service, and maintenance teams
  • Build and nurture a best-in-class team culture through effective performance management and talent development
  • Hire, train, and develop team members who will grow with us
  • Serve as a Greenmark brand ambassador, fostering excellence and genuine partnership with your team and community

 

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years in the waste or environmental services industry, with experience leading teams
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards, USDOT regulations, and OSHA requirements
  • Proven business acumen and strategic thinking with a track record of successful execution and sales growth

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field
  • Experience across all service lines—residential, commercial, roll-off, and portables (residential experience especially valuable)
  • Background in both operations and sales
