Our mission is to be the UK’s simplest way to find and finance a great value used car. We want to put car buyers back in control and make the car buying experience as simple, straightforward, and joyful as possible as car buyers deserve oodles of car buying confidence!

We are a team of 450 people located in Manchester, Oxford and London. Over the past 8 years, we’ve supported 10,000’s of customers on their car buying journey and know 2024 is shaping up to be another exciting year!

The Role & Team 
 
We are now looking for a Graduate Quantitative Analyst to help us take Oodle to the next level. There is an abundance of exciting and interesting projects to get your hands on! We have a hybrid working policy, with the team based out of Shoreditch, London – a 3-minute walk from Old Street station.  

Due to the steep nature of the initial learning curve, we would expect 2-3 days in the office per week, to ensure sufficient time for learning and getting to know the Credit Risk team. As part of this, you will get mentoring from Senior staff members from a range of backgrounds, we run cross-functional teams; in this role, you’ll learn to develop analytical frameworks and models to drive company strategy. You will report into the Credit Risk function but will have opportunity to create impact in a variety of business areas including Customer Management, Fraud, Origination and Finance, to support with strategic analytics and modelling, and to help the business shape and achieve its core objectives.

You will: 

• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and communicate insights and strategy decisions to different business partners, developers, operations teams, and management. 
• Develop and optimise Oodle’s retail credit strategies, leveraging internal and external data such as the credit reference agencies and fraud databases 
• Contribute to Oodle’s analytical models, employing cutting edge data science techniques and methodologies: 
• New Origination Unit Economics 
• Portfolio Roll Rate Model 
• Credit Decisioning Scorecard 
• Extract, manipulate, and analyse data on the performance of the origination strategy and Oodle’s portfolio, ensuring the agreements are performing within expectations. 
• Enhance Oodle’s loss forecasting and provisioning methodology. 

Who you are: 

• Highly technical, numerate Graduate or Junior analyst coming from STEM or Financial background. A good fit may have a BSc, MSc, or PhD in an area such as (but not limited to):  
• Mathematics and/or Statistics 
• Chemistry 
• Physics 
• Economics 
• Engineering 
• Computer Science 
• Finance 
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential as role will entail interaction with a range of stakeholders 
• Open-minded go-getter, willing and able to independently and collaboratively solve interesting problems 
• In-depth understanding of Microsoft packages, in particular Excel and PowerPoint 
• Some coding experience would be advantageous (SQL/Python preferable), however, this is not a must  
• Understanding of data and/or credit risk is a bonus  
• Keen interest in Credit Risk, Economics and FinTech
