Global Product Manager

TLDR

Become a key stakeholder in the development and advancement of the core instruments and accessories portfolio for the da Vinci® Multiport team, driving product enhancements and launches.

Primary Function of Position 

As a Product Manager on the da Vinci® Multiport team, you will become a key stakeholder in the maintenance, development, and advancement of the core instruments and accessories portfolio. This is an individual contributor role and will report to a Group Product Manager.

You will work with cross-functional partners to identify needs, define products, and guide products through the development and launch process. You will become a global portfolio expert, providing portfolio recommendations and working with downstream commercial teams on product launches. Responsibilities include contributing to product enhancements, managing product requirements, launching products, market research, customer interaction, forecasting, pricing analysis, competitive analysis, third-party product integration, and supporting commercialized products.

Essential Job Duties 

  • Manage the Multiport core instruments and accessories product roadmap and product lifecycle in alignment with the multiport portfolio objectives.  Develop business justification for recommendations and gain alignment across key stakeholders on project prioritization.
  • Capture, refine, and validate user needs with feedback from customers, commercial teams, and engineering teams (clinical, design, etc.). Prioritize design efforts, navigate tradeoffs, and document and communicate design decisions.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative market research methods and direct customer interviews and observations to develop insights that inform product development and the product roadmap.
  • Communicate with customers regarding product improvements, product launches, and product discontinuations. Manage customer questions and concerns regarding product function and safety.
  • Define product launch strategy. Measure product success by monitoring product adoption and seeking post-launch product feedback for improvements.
  • Understand competitive, emerging and complementary technology and its potential impact on Intuitive’s product lines.

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Minimum 4 or more years cumulative professional experience in product management, marketing, engineering, business development, or equivalent role.
  • Proven relationship-building skills with the ability to work across diverse organizational areas to deliver results. Humble, mindful of other people’s input, and able to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Ability to context-switch across functional areas and prioritize effiectively, to facilitate decision making.
  • Proven ability to investigate open-ended problems, conduct first principles analysis, and work cross-functionally to implement initiatives.
  • Self-directed with awareness to proactively seek advice and feedback when needed.
  • Ability to source information and not only identify issues but also proactively propose solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of the MS Office product suite. Moderate experience with Tableau, Agile, and Polarion.

Required Education and Training 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, or related field.

Working Conditions 

  • Ability to work in surgical labs and hospital patient care areas.
  • Willingness to travel 15-20%, including international travel.
  • Position is based at Intuitive Headquarters in Sunnyvale, California.

Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • MBA or equivalent experience in role
  • Previous product management experience. Voice of customer research, product launch experience.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target base compensation ranges are listed.
