To support this mission, Syngenta’s Occupational toxicology team is seeking a Global Occupational Toxicologist ideally based in Jealott’s Hill, Bracknell, UK (alternative locations may be considered if needed).  

In this role, you will provide expert toxicology guidance, set standards that protect our workforce, helping us lead the industry in health, safety, and environmental performance. 

Accountabilities:

  • Establish and maintain Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs) for materials used in product manufacturing. 
  • Provide independent, expert advice on occupational toxicology, addressing complex and unique challenges. 
  • Proactively identify potential toxicological risks from chemical and biological agents used in Syngenta operations. 
  • Deliver occupational toxicology and health training, conduct audits, and assess business risks. 
  • Identify and champion opportunities to integrate data analytics and digital tools into HSE management, partnering with colleagues to implement innovative solutions. 

Education & Experience: 

  • BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Toxicology. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in occupational toxicology, industrial hygiene, human health risk assessment, or related toxicology fields within a complex business environment; 8+ years preferred. 
  • For internal candidates without a Toxicology Master’s degree, a tailored development package may be available. 

Core Competencies: 

  • Recognized authority, personally accountable for evidence-based occupational toxicology advice provided 
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across diverse functions and organizational levels. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and inclusively with colleagues from all backgrounds. 

Jealott's Hill International Research Centre UK is situated in pleasant semi-rural surroundings between Bracknell and Maidenhead and is the place of work for approximately 800 Syngenta scientists and support staff.  Jealott’s Hill is one of the main global research and development sites and key activities include research into discovery of new active ingredients, new formulation technologies, product safety and technical support of our product range.
