What you'll do:

As Global Director of Machine Learning Engineering, you will be responsible for leading machine learning and software engineers who will be part of the BEES Machine Learning Platform team. These specialists will be assigned to multiple agile squads alongside complementary profiles like data scientists, data engineers, and product managers to form autonomous, self-managed pods tasked with developing our global, scalable Machine Learning Platform and the ML applications that will run on it.

You are expected to be an experienced, empathetic, and highly adept leader who can inspire machine learning and software engineers and help them excel in their areas of growth, guiding them to achieve technical excellence and deliver strong business results. You are passionate about achieving business results from productizing data science applications in e-commerce. You love staying on top of the latest tech, methods, tools, and thought leadership and quickly translate external content into new experiments to drive value.

For the successful candidate, this role will offer a unique opportunity to drive and accelerate the scaling of our end-to-end data science strategy for a large company with a lot of consumer influence and significant, diverse data assets available at a fingertip in a highly engineering-driven environment with both streaming and batch architectures. Exposure to leadership, ownership, and accountability are commonplace, and problems are solved collectively!

• Design and guide the team to develop a world-class, scalable Machine Learning Platform.
• Recruit, coach, develop, enable, and lead machine learning engineers and software engineers.
• Design and rollout ML Ops methodology standards, and best practices, supporting its adoption by all advanced analytics products.
• Collaborate with the leads of product management, agile, data engineering, and data science to build fully functional product squads.
• Directly influence company success both in consumer sentiment as well as financials through our e-commerce platform.
• Shape the way AI & machine learning are done industry wide as part of one of the best corporate ML teams out there.

What you'll need:

• At least 5+ years’ experience in engineering leadership.
• 5+ years’ experience in individual-contributor machine learning engineering roles.
• Master’s degree in computer science or related fields.
• Solid software engineering and data management skills.
• Extensive experience in using cloud platforms to deploy scalable, reliable, and performing solutions.
• Proven track record of business value delivered through technology.
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable conveying complex ideas to a diverse audience.
• Servant leader, ready to roll up the sleeves and help the team overcome technical or organizational roadblocks.
• Fully fluent in English and Portuguese, proficiency in Spanish a plus.
