Organization/Team Mission
- The Cross Border Marketing Team at Mercari is dedicated to enabling customers worldwide to seamlessly buy and sell across borders on the Mercari marketplace app. By driving initiatives such as international market expansion and the launch of new business schemes, the team plays a critical role in shaping the growth of Mercari’s Cross Border business.

Work Responsibilities
We are seeking a Global Digital Marketing Specialist to lead user acquisition initiatives for Mercari’s cross-border business, focusing on the US market. In this role, you will plan, execute, and optimize performance marketing campaigns across multiple digital channels, leveraging data to accelerate growth and engagement. You’ll collaborate with product, analytics, and creative teams to drive measurable impact and help Mercari expand its global reach.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Plan, launch, and optimize digital advertising campaigns across major paid channels (Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and others) to acquire new users and grow engagement in the US market.
- Develop and manage performance marketing strategies that balance acquisition volume, efficiency, and quality of users.
- Continuously monitor campaign data, analyze KPIs, and apply insights to improve conversion rates and ROI.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with creative, analytics, and product teams to align campaign strategies with overall business goals.
- Localize and tailor ad creatives and messaging for the US audience, ensuring cultural and linguistic relevance.
- Manage budgets and pacing, ensuring optimal use of spend across channels.
- Conduct A/B tests to identify the most effective targeting, bidding, and creative strategies.
- Report and present campaign performance, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Establish local connections and facilitate effective communication
- Plan and execute comprehensive growth initiatives in the US beyond Paid Ads

- As a small, high-impact team, the business requires members to take on cross-functional responsibilities—including marketing, business development, and project management—to drive sustainable growth.
- Leveraging the assets of Mercari, Japan’s largest marketplace app, to explore and build new businesses presents significant challenges, but also offers the opportunity to deliver substantial impact when successful.
Qualifications
- Required Experiences/Skills
- One of the following
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in digital advertising or performance marketing, preferably with user acquisition focus.
- Deep understanding of Google Ads, Meta Ads, Appsflyer and other major digital ad platforms
- Proven track record in campaign management, optimization, and analytics
- Native English speaker with a strong understanding of the US market (Japanese or other languages a plus)
- Ability to work cross-functionally and adapt in a fast-paced and multicultural environment
- Preferred Experiences/Skills
- Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, or cross-border business
- Hands-on experience with marketing automation, segmentation, and personalization
- Familiarity with international growth strategies and multi-market campaigns
- Knowledge of user behavior analysis, retention modeling, or cohort analysis
- Proven experience in planning and executing initiatives such as ASO, SEO, and social media marketing beyond Paid Ads
- Proven experience in executing campaigns aimed at branding objectives
- Language
