Geospatial Technology Leader, Corporate

This is a senior-level position focused on the long-term strategic growth of the organization in the technology area.  This lead will help to drive strategic engineering and construction initiatives through advances in GIS and mapping technologies, reality capture, drone solutions, remote sensing, and custom solutions and workflows. This individual will lead the firm in best practices for these types of technologies for our planning, design and construction practices. The successful candidate will also assist our Chief Process and Innovation Officer (CPIO) in formulating and administering operations plans and processes.

As a member of the Innovation team, the Geospatial Technology Leader will also engage in research and development and provide guidance and oversight to the GIS practices at Benesch, engaging in new product research, testing, and the incubation of innovative ideas that arise from around the company.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Motivate and inspire the geospatial practice at Benesch by enhancing the environment that promotes positive collaboration among GIS practitioners across the company
  • Support the Innovation Team, User Groups and Tech Groups in the areas of GIS, BIM, drones and other practices areas to assist in completing initiatives to grow Benesch’s technology practice and footprint
  • Work in collaboration with the GIS Task Force and GIS practitioners to advance common standards, best practices, etc. from a geospatial technology perspective
  • Provide guidance, instruction, training, and leadership skills to inspire geospatial staff to perform at their optimum, working efficiently together and maximizing the team’s potential
  • Displaying excellent interpersonal skills to build collaborative relationships across the organization among GIS practitioners, Division leadership and corporate staff, helping to expand our GIS practice with both technical and business development support
  • Assist in seeking out regional and national business opportunities in geospatial areas, leading the pursuit of these projects when appropriate and managing and delivering these projects as appropriate
  • Help lead and advance vendor relationships such as Esri. Help establish relationships with other geospatial technology vendors as applicable
  • Be a collaborative partner to our business line stakeholders by understanding the business needs, the key strategic objectives of the business line stakeholders, and what those stakeholders need to achieve their strategic objectives. Be seen by the business line stakeholders as an extension of their team
What You Will Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Advanced level skills in ESRI ArcGIS
  • Knowledge and expertise with drone and other data collection technology
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Membership in professional and technical societies expected
