GIS Expert

At Uni Systems, we are working towards turning digital visions into reality. We are continuously growing and we are looking for a GIS Expert to join our UniQue team in Brussels.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Maintain and develop the GIS production service to meet the requirement of users as well as others (mapping, spatial analysis). This task includes the maintenance of ArcGIS software and installation of updates
  • Contribute to defining business requirements and management of the ERCC portal, including the interactions with the users, developers and hosting entity.
  • Maintain and develop customized geographical reference databases and technical databases.
  • Provision of quality assessments and support to quality control tests for GIS products.
  • Provide support and training on the range of mapping products and on the request procedure.
  • Link with the scientific group.
  • Monitor the work performed by the scientific group in the area of Daily Flash and Daily Map production and suggest improvements when required
  • Assistance in the implementation of GIS tools, including awareness training in GIS tools

Requirements

What will you be bringing to the team?

  • Master's degree and 13 years of professional experience in IT.
  • At least 5 years of specific expertise with GIS tools.
  • Ability to produce situational awareness products, e.g. maps, in a timely and scientifically accurate manner.
  • Very good knowledge of GIS tools and experience in using them in the field of civil protection and humanitarian aid is considered an avantage.
  • Experience on analysis of satellite imagery and maps, ideally in the Copernicus emergency management service.
  • Ability to apply high quality standards.
  • Very good communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences and give presentations.
  • Analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to write clear and structured technical documents.
  • Ability to cope with systems used in the EU civil protection mechanism (e.g. CECIS, ERCC portal) is considered and advatange.
  • Proficiency in English language at a C1 level.
