Being a key member of our senior leadership group, you will drive commercial performance, operational excellence, and a culture of care across Queensland. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you’ll lead a talented team of Regional Managers and collaborate with People & Culture, Finance, Marketing, Property, and Clinical Leadership to turn national strategy into regional success.

As the General Manager – Operations (QLD) you will be accountable for the strategic and operational performance of your region. Your leadership will directly influence clinic culture, commercial outcomes, and the quality of veterinary care.

This role is more than operational oversight, it is about influence, vision, and impact. You will steer the integration of new acquisitions, revitalise underperforming clinics, and strengthen a connected community of veterinary professionals. Your ability to lead with commercial insight, empathy, and resilience will be essential in navigating the complexity of a growing and fast-evolving organisation.

 

Key areas of responsibility are:

People & Performance Leadership

  • Inspire, coach, and mentor Regional Managers—building a leadership culture defined by accountability, trust, and high performance

  • Strengthen capability across your region through proactive succession planning, development pathways, and talent mobility

  • Be a visible, trusted presence within clinics, fostering strong relationships with Practice Managers and teams

  • Support the attraction and retention of critical clinical talent and champion an outstanding employee experience

 

Commercial & Strategic Leadership

  • Translate national strategy into an impactful regional plan aligned with revenue, profit, and growth targets

  • Identify opportunities for expansion—whether through acquisition, consolidation, or enhanced service offerings

  • Use data-driven insights to unlock performance, address underperformance early, and drive operational efficiency

  • Partner across functions to embed scalable systems, tools, and initiatives that elevate clinic operations

 

Operational Excellence & Clinical Integration

  • Ensure consistent delivery of operational standards, client experiences, and financial controls across all clinics

  • Collaborate with support teams to equip clinics with the resources and training they need to succeed

  • Lead the seamless onboarding of new acquisitions and greenfield clinics, ensuring cultural alignment from day one

  • Strengthen collaboration within the network, enhancing internal referrals and building loyalty

 

Governance, Compliance & Safety

  • Uphold regulatory, safety, and professional standards throughout the region

  • Foster environments where wellbeing, inclusion, and psychological safety are core to daily operations

  • Provide timely resolution of risks, incidents, and concerns in alignment with VetPartners policies and values

 

About you

You are a commercially astute senior leader who brings a people-first approach and a track record of elevating performance within a multi-site, service-driven environment. You are engaging, resilient, curious, and driven; an authentic leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on operational focus.

Additionally. you will demonstrate:

  • 5+ years’ experience in senior operational leadership, ideally within healthcare, retail, franchising, or other multi-site sectors

  • Success leading leaders, coaching, influencing, and inspiring high-performing teams

  • Deep commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis

  • A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to navigate complexity confidently and empathetically

  • Exceptional communication skills, enabling you to build trust and influence at all levels of the organisation
