Our client, a rapidly expanding luxury hospitality group, is seeking an exceptional General Manager for their exclusive boutique resort on Fire Island, New York. You'll be responsible for managing all aspects of resort operations during the high season (approximately March–October) while living on-site, and contributing to strategic planning and supporting other locations during the off-season.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all day-to-day operations across multiple departments including Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Recreation, Maintenance, and Nightlife venues
  • Maintain exceptional service standards that exceed luxury hospitality benchmarks
  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure cleanliness, ambiance, and operational excellence
  • Manage the development of new hotel construction and renovation projects on the property

Guest Experience & Programming

  • Champion a culture of personalized, memorable service for every guest
  • Curate and oversee seasonal programming including pool parties, live entertainment, and special events
  • Proactively manage guest feedback to maintain outstanding reviews and drive repeat business
  • Create unique experiences that showcase the destination's vibrant culture and community

Financial Management

  • Develop and execute seasonal budgets, forecasts, and pricing strategies
  • Manage high-volume operational costs to ensure alignment with financial targets
  • Identify and capitalize on revenue growth opportunities through events, packages, and partnerships

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, recruit, train, and mentor a diverse team of department heads and seasonal staff (approximately 60-70 employees during high season)
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment focused on excellence and guest service
  • Set clear performance standards and conduct regular evaluations
  • Build and maintain a strong executive team of approximately 4 leaders

Sales, Marketing & Partnerships

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to promote the property across digital and luxury hospitality networks
  • Build relationships with tourism partners, corporate clients, and event organizers
  • Host influencers, media, and VIP guests to showcase the property's unique offerings

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with New York State labor laws, health and safety regulations, and hospitality standards
  • Understand and manage J-1 visa and H-2B visa programs for seasonal staffing
  • Implement emergency protocols and maintain property security

Requirements

  • Extensive proven experience as a General Manager or Resort Manager in a luxury hotel or multi-outlet hospitality environment.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills managing multi-outlet operations (hotel, restaurants, nightlife venues)
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptionally high service standards
  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and high-volume seasonal operations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to inclusivity and cultural sensitivity
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking
  • Willingness to live on-site during the season (approximately March–October) and work extended hours to ensure operational success
  • Flexibility to support other resort locations during the off-season (November–February)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field (equivalent experience considered)
  • Spanish language proficiency (strongly preferred)
  • Understanding of New York State labor laws and regulations

  • Familiarity with ADP Workforce, Microsoft Office Suite, and MICROS or other POS systems

Benefits

Salary Range: $100,000 - $1300,000 annually
