🙌The Role: General Counsel
Boundless Life is seeking a decisive, proactive and highly assertive General Counsel to lead our legal function as we continue to expand globally. You will protect the company’s interests across multiple jurisdictions, manage complex legal challenges, and serve as a trusted partner to the leadership team. This role is ideal for someone with excellent negotiation skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys juggling a wide range of responsibilities across a dynamic and evolving business.
Who You’ll Work With
You will work directly with Tyler Tallon, CFO, and collaborate closely with teams across Finance, Operations, Education, Hospitality, Real Estate, People and Culture, and our external payroll and legal partners. You will partner across all departments to support informed, compliant, and efficient decision-making.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Legal Strategy and Compliance:
- Provide expert legal advice to senior management on a broad range of matters affecting the organization.
- Ensure the company’s operations comply with applicable laws and regulations in all jurisdictions where we operate.
- Develop and implement legal strategies that support business objectives while managing risk effectively.
- Champion pragmatic, commercially forward legal solutions rather than risk-averse approaches, enabling rapid expansion and strong business outcomes.
Contract Management and Negotiation:
- Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of contracts, including employment agreements, vendor contracts, leases, partnership agreements, and fundraising documents.
- Establish and maintain contract templates, processes, and best practices.
- Secure favorable terms while ensuring clarity, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Lead high-stakes negotiations with a focus on achieving materially improved commercial terms, leveraging a sophisticated and firm negotiation style to consistently secure better deals for the company.
Fundraising and Investment:
- Support fundraising initiatives by preparing and reviewing legal documentation for investment rounds.
- Assist in structuring real estate funds and international syndicates.
- Oversee corporate governance requirements, shareholder documentation, and board-related matters.
Licensing, Permits, & Entity Setup:
- Lead the formation of new legal entities in countries where Boundless Life operates.
- Manage licensing and permit requirements for all business lines.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant filings with local authorities.
- Build scalable, fast-moving processes for entity setup across multiple global jurisdictions.
International Employment and People Matters:
- Advise on global employment law and support People and Culture with compliant, practical solutions.
- Provide confident and direct guidance on employment scenarios that require fast decision-making and assertive risk balancing.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess legal risks across the organization.
- Develop processes and policies that reduce liability and protect the company’s interests.
- Ensure business decisions are supported with clear, concise legal guidance.
- Adopt a solution-oriented risk posture that prioritizes enabling the business rather than slowing it down.
Outside Counsel Management:
- Select, manage, and evaluate external legal counsel in various jurisdictions.
- Optimize legal spend while maintaining high-quality support.
- Hold external counsel accountable to high performance, speed, and cost efficiency; negotiate aggressively to maximize value.

🫶About You
You’ll likely have:
- A JD (or equivalent) and admission to the bar, preferably in Europe or Canada.
- 10+ years of legal experience, including significant international exposure.
- Expertise in commercial law, employment law, contract negotiation, and international matters.
- A track record of negotiating complex agreements with successful outcomes.
- Experience supporting fundraising or investment structures.
- Strong drafting skills and the ability to communicate legal concepts simply.
- Experience managing external counsel and optimizing cost efficiency.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Comfort operating in fast-paced, high-growth, and sometimes ambiguous environments.
- A practical, business-savvy mindset that balances risk with operational needs.
- A reputation as a fearless negotiator who secures exceptional terms and does not shy away from assertive legal strategies.
- Experience operating as a hands-on, startup-oriented legal leader who moves quickly, influences decisions, and thrives in complexity.
