At Oceans, we help the best and brightest of Sri Lanka to take advantage of opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them, while supporting entrepreneurs around the world. Our community (we call them Divers) don’t do surface work—they go deep to solve complex challenges and make a real impact. And in doing so, they support bold ideas and expand their skills, broaden their expertise, and grow their careers, all without having to leave family and friends.

We’re hiring a Financial Analyst to support a fast-growing consumer technology brand in the athletic recovery space. The company operates a strong U.S. D2C business and is rapidly expanding into international markets, requiring more rigorous forecasting, reporting, operational support, and financial oversight.

If you love FP&A, live inside Excel models, and enjoy blending financial analysis with operational problem-solving, this role is built for you.

Accountability

As a Financial Analyst, your success will be defined by your ability to deliver accurate financial models, actionable insights, and consistent reporting across multiple business units. You’ll help strengthen financial rigor, support strategic planning, and work cross-functionally to solve operational challenges tied to growth.

Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

Financial Planning & Analysis (Primary Ownership)

  • Own and maintain financial models for forecasting, budgeting, margin analysis, and market-level P&L.
  • Build weekly dashboards and executive reports for leadership and commercial teams.
  • Analyze trends across U.S. and international markets and provide insight-driven recommendations.
  • Support scenario planning and strategic decision-making with leadership.

Month-End & Accounting Support

  • Perform and review monthly reconciliations (bank, inventory, account-level discrepancies).
  • Prepare adjusting entries (credit memos, write-offs) with oversight.
  • Review sales tax reports and flag errors before submission.
  • Validate and clean data within accounting systems.

Operational & Cross-Functional Projects

  • Troubleshoot logistics, compliance, or vendor issues related to international sales.
  • Support reporting for sales teams and special analytical requests.
  • Drive research-heavy or coordination-heavy side projects tied to growth or expansion.

Continuous Improvement

  • Improve existing financial models, dashboards, and workflows.
  • Build proactive reporting cadences to reduce ad-hoc “fire drill” analysis.
  • Strengthen internal documentation and knowledge-sharing systems.

Colleagues

You’ll work closely with the COO/CFO, sales teams, and ops teams ad external vendors.

At Oceans, you’ll also receive guidance and support from our Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in this role and ensure that you’re continuously growing and developing in your career.

Skills & Qualifications

At Oceans, we believe in T-shaped individuals — those who bring deep expertise in one area, paired with broad curiosity and interests. As a Financial Analyst, your vertical strength will be FP&A and financial modeling, while your horizontal strengths will include accounting support, cross-functional collaboration, and operational problem-solving.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience: Strong FP&A background with forecasting, modeling, and dashboards.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency; ability to build and maintain financial models.
  • Tools: Experience with QuickBooks or a similar accounting system.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Solid grasp of accounting fundamentals (IFRS acceptable; can be trained on U.S. GAAP).
  • Reporting: Ability to produce accurate, insight-driven dashboards and weekly reporting.
  • Independence: Strong ownership mindset with minimal need for supervision.
  • Mindset: Analytical, proactive, curious, and able to operate in ambiguity.

Bonus skills:

  • Exposure to Shopify or e-commerce analytics.
  • Experience in consumer goods or physical product environments.
  • Interest in athletics or sports-centric businesses.

Diversity of experience is core to Oceans. You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.

During the interview process, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:

  • Financial Modeling: How you build, maintain, and evolve forecasts and dashboards.
  • Variance Analysis: How you identify performance drivers and articulate insights.
  • Accounting Support: How you perform reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Cross-Functional Problem Solving: Examples of solving operational or logistics issues through analysis.
  • Process Improvement: How you’ve improved systems, templates, or recurring workflows.
