Lead proprietary trading and market-making for EM NDFs, develop trading strategies, and ensure compliance while collaborating with sales to enhance client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Proprietary Trading & Market Making: Manage a proprietary trading book for EM NDFs, executing trades to generate sustainable P&L.
Risk Management: Actively monitor and manage the risk exposure of the NDF portfolio, including FX, interest rate, and liquidity risks, adhering to strict VaR and position limits.
Price Discovery & Liquidity: Provide competitive, two-way prices to both internal stakeholders (e.g., sales, other trading desks) and key institutional clients.
Strategy Development: Develop and implement high-frequency and relative value trading strategies across the NDF curve and related instruments (e.g., FX swaps, deliverable forwards).
Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth fundamental and technical analysis of emerging market economies, focusing on political developments, central bank policies, and capital flows.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with the FX Sales team to understand client flow, identify trading opportunities, and enhance client relationships.
Compliance & Regulation: Ensure all trading activities are in full compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of proven experience as an NDF Trader or an EM FX Trader with a strong focus on NDFs.
Track Record: A verifiable and consistent track record of generating P&L.
Market Knowledge: Deep expertise in emerging markets, with a strong understanding of the macroeconomic and political drivers of key NDF currencies especially HKD, PHP, USD, EUR, BRL, THB etc.
Technical Skills: High proficiency with major trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters) and strong numerical/analytical skills. Programming skills (e.g., Python, VBA) for automation and analysis are a significant advantage.
