About Shade

Shade helps companies with large media libraries search, share, access, and review terabytes of data — including images, videos, audio, 3D assets, PSDs, and documents.
Our platform combines:

  • FUSE streaming filesystem (file system in user space)

  • Distributed AI and indexing backend for vector search, automated metadata, facial recognition, transcription, and GPU transcoding

  • Sleek web and desktop frontend for review, approval, and sharing

We work with clients such as Carv, Salesforce, Grüns, HelloFresh, Related, Deloitte, Motorola, and the Boston Celtics.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Fullstack or Frontend Engineer with strong UI/UX instincts and startup experience to help ship features end-to-end — from concept to production.
You’ll work closely with our small, fast-moving team to deliver clean, maintainable code that powers our cutting-edge media platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain frontend and fullstack features using TypeScript, React, Next.js, and TanStack

  • Collaborate with backend engineers using Python and Postgres

  • Build scalable, reliable, and performant interfaces

  • Participate in code reviews and testing to ensure high-quality releases

  • Work with complex data (media files, large libraries, GPU/CPU transcoding)

  • Contribute to product design and process improvement discussions

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional experience as a fullstack or frontend engineer at a startup or scale-up

  • Strong experience shipping features end-to-end, including frontend implementation and testing

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field

  • Proficiency in TypeScript, React,TanStack,

    • Next.jc

  • Working knowledge of Python and Postgres

  • Comfort with modern UI/UX principles and frontend performance optimization

  • Exposure to or interest in the creative industry (3D, video, photography) is a plus

  • Experience with media processing, transcoding (FFMPEG), or Python image processing is a bonus
