About our start-up (“Alice”):

Alice aspires to make personalized learning accessible to everyone, helping both students and teachers. We utilize the latest developments in the fields of LLMs and AI in general to build a truly exciting EdTech solution. 

We’re an ambitious, yet caring, company and more than 15,000 students have already used Alice across more than 10 countries. We also work directly together with a handful of schools. 

In early 2025 we spent 3 months in San Francisco taking part in Y Combinator’s W25 batch. Following this, we raised a seed round, bringing our total funding in just ~1 year to $5.6 million (about 40 million DKK), and we are now looking to scale.

While we are currently a small team, we punch above our weight, and you will be joining a team consisting of a previous McKinsey Associate Partner, Oxford graduate, PhD with vast statistical modelling experience, more than 10 years of university teaching experience, the person with DK’s highest high school GPA ever, and more! 

We’re building a true A team – because it is just most fun to work with other smart and dedicated people!

About you

• “Pilot, not a passenger” – You are intrinsically driven - while we plan well ahead, in the grander scheme of things, there is no playbook on how to build Alice.tech. We - including you - need to define this as a team, and have to be motivated by the prospect of both literal and figurative ownership
• “Engineer with capital E”– One of the largest strengths of a startup/scaleup, is its ability to move swiftly and push new functionality frequently. But at the same time, we need to keep everything well structured, otherwise we’ll hit a brick wall soon enough. Therefore we are looking for people who understand and appreciate both sides of this balancing act, which is at the heart of engineering

What you’ll do/work on

• When we say “Full Stack” we mean it - you will be working on projects ranging from cloud infrastructure to our web and mobile app(s), and everything in between
• Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, designers and business stakeholders
• Our frontend is primarily in TypeScript and Vue.js, while the backend is in typed (mypy) Python and FastAPI
• Help continuously evolve our practices around contributions, testing, and deployment

Requirements (/The ideal candidate will have proven experience with)

• Web development, both front- and back-end in the major frameworks
• Relational databases
• Major cloud providers - like  AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Writing thorough tests
• Strong Python and TypeScript proficiency
• 3+ years of professional software experience
• MSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, similar (and if not - significantly more professional experience)

It’s a plus if you have experience with

• Vue.js (or Angular)
• Publishing and managing NPM or Pip packages
• LLMs and building pipelines around these
• Some DevOps
• Security best practices
• Big data engineering (e.g. Spark or MapReduce)
