Full Stack Engineer

AI overview

As a Full Stack Engineer in Growth, you will create scalable solutions and lean experiments while leveraging AI tools to accelerate product development.

At Famly, we're looking for a Full Stack Engineer to build both lean experiments and scalable solutions — using agentic AI as a core part of how you work — and push our products to reach the next level of growth.

And who are Famly? We’re on a mission to close the collaboration gap in early childhood. So we’re building the world’s most collaborative Early Childhood Platform - a software platform for the adults in a young child’s life to connect, share their workload, and learn about early childhood. Basically, Famly makes life easier for educators and families so that they can get back to what matters.

As a Full Stack Engineer in Growth, you'll join a team of 7 engineers, two designers, and a PM where every individual shapes the direction we take. You'll ship everything from quick, data-driven experiments to long-term strategic features — across frontend and backend — while actively using AI tools like Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code to move faster and build better. We're looking for someone who doesn't just tolerate AI-assisted development but genuinely believes it's a better way to work and wants to ship production grade code using it.

Growth is its own department at Famly, reporting directly to the CEO — which means we move fast, make real decisions, and change direction as we learn.

The role is based in our Copenhagen office (Købmagergade), with at least 4 days per week in-office.

What you'll be doing:

  • Build both quick, lean experiments and scalable production features that drive growth across Famly's platform

  • Work in a data-driven team where you can instantly track and see the impact your work has on thousands of childcare professionals and families

  • Work across our products on a wide variety of tasks — from frontend UI to backend APIs and infrastructure

  • Collaborate with the team on planning, designing, developing, and rolling out new features and improvements

  • Use AI tools as a natural part of your development workflow — for prototyping, code generation, debugging, and beyond

  • Work towards transforming Famly into a product-led organisation, helping customers find, test, buy, and love Famly on their own

Right now, the team is deep in Famly's US market expansion — building a billing and payments hub for childcare centers, redesigning the product's navigation architecture, and improving onboarding flows to drive activation. These are complex, domain-rich problems that require understanding how thousands of childcare professionals actually run their businesses.

Requirements

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Work independently, are self-driven, and take genuine ownership of your work from idea to production

  • Are product-minded — you get into the heads of your users, understand their needs, and combine that empathy with your technical knowledge to shape how the product should work, not just how to build it

  • Actively use AI in your development workflow and are excited about pushing the boundaries of what's possible with AI-assisted engineering

  • Have a solid working understanding of functional programming (we use Scala with cats, cats-effect, fs2, and slick)

  • Build across the stack — modern single-page apps with TypeScript and React, and APIs in GraphQL and REST

  • Bring clarity to complex and ambiguous problems

  • Communicate clearly and kindly, learn fast, and make your teammates shine (we're 45+ nationalities, and our company language is English)

And it'd be even better if:

  • You've contributed to shaping how a team adopts AI tools and workflows

  • You have experience with Scala or another functional language (Haskell, F#, Elm, etc.)

  • You have experience working in a growth or product-led environment

This is a mid to senior position, but we appreciate that everyone brings something unique. If you don't tick every box above, to hell with it — apply anyway. We'd still love to read your application.

The interview process looks like:

  1. Screening call with our People & Talent Partner

  2. Logical test

  3. Interview with the hiring manager

  4. Take-home technical assignment

  5. Personal interview

And who are Famly?

You're probably wondering at this stage, and Famly are…? Well, it all began when our co-founder Henrik's daughter was ready to start at daycare. He couldn't believe the amount of work being done on paper — and how distant he felt from his first child during the day. The paper 'parent' books they exchanged once a month just weren't cutting it. Together with his friend, our co-founder and CEO Anders, they set about solving that.

These days, the 180 of us building Famly talk about trying to do one thing. Giving children the best possible start to life. Or rather, making it easier for the 8000 nurseries and childcare centers who use Famly every day to do that, on our behalf.

We do it with the world's first Early Childhood Platform, software that brings hundreds of thousands of parents closer to their child's day while they're away from them. We also make financial, pedagogical, and planning tools for more than 100,000 childcare professionals in the UK, US, Germany and 15 other countries, saving them hours and reducing their admin stress.

Ultimately, that gives them more time and headspace for the little ones that really matter.

You'll love working here because of:

  • Competitive pension, private health insurance, and paid maternity/paternity leave.

  • A clear career framework and coaching to make sure you're growing, a 10,000 DKK personal development budget and a 'We'll buy you any book you want' policy.

  • We're all about hiring clever people who are good humans too. It means Famly is full of top thinkers and generous teammates waiting to help you shine.

  • A belief of 'make your colleagues shine' is all about breaking down silos, celebrating one another, and staying connected across departments, offices, and oceans.

  • We like to give a lot of ownership both in terms of responsibility and freedom to try new, challenging tasks.

  • We invest in AI developer tools — you'll have access to GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, and more.

  • Top-notch work equipment (including noise cancelling headphones for those focus periods!).

The compensation is:

Our salary range is 40–60,000 DKK per month depending on experience.

We're looking to fill the position as soon as possible, so get your application in today by sending us:

  • Your CV

  • A cover letter to tell us what you can bring to the role, and what speaks to you about Famly.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
