Job Role: Full Stack Developer

Compensation range: $2,500 AUD - $2,700 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: The client is an Australia-based technology company that provides digital solutions designed to enhance safety, compliance, and operational efficiency in industrial environments. The business helps organizations modernize their safety management systems through smart automation, streamlined workflows, and data-driven insights.

Role Overview: We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our growing technology team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, versatile engineer who can work across both the front-end and back-end stack to build scalable, high-performing web applications. You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and data teams to develop innovative solutions and deliver seamless digital experiences.

This role will suit someone who thrives in an agile, problem-solving environment, is passionate about clean and efficient code, and stays current with emerging technologies—particularly in the fields of AI integration and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

Key Responsibilities: 

Full Stack Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable web applications using React.js (front-end) and Node.js and Python (back-end).

System Architecture:

• Contribute to the design and implementation of system architecture, ensuring maintainability, scalability, and performance optimization.

API Development & Integration:

• Build and integrate RESTful APIs to connect front-end and back-end systems efficiently.

Database Management:

• Design and optimize relational and/or NoSQL database schemas, ensuring data integrity and efficient access patterns.

AI & RAG Implementation (Preferred):

• Collaborate with data scientists or AI engineers to implement and integrate Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or similar AI-driven solutions into applications.

Testing & Quality Assurance:

• Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure application stability and reliability.

Collaboration & Documentation:

• Work closely with designers, product managers, and other developers in an agile environment. Maintain clear technical documentation for code, APIs, and systems.

Deployment & Maintenance:

• Deploy applications using CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and ensure continuous performance monitoring and optimization.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

• 3+ years of experience as a Full Stack Developer or Software Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React.js, Node.js, and Python.
• Experience with modern front-end development tools (Webpack, Vite, Babel, etc.).
• Proficiency in building RESTful APIs and working with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
• UI design experience and knowledge of Material UI
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and agile development methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Desirable / Nice to Have:

• Knowledge or hands-on experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) frameworks or AI integration (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI API, vector databases).
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with serverless architectures and microservices.
• Understanding of data security and authentication (OAuth, JWT, etc.).
• Prior experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment.

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
