The role:

In this role as a Front End Software Engineer (Mid Level), you treat our Design System as a Product, with primary ownership of the presentation layer: the UI components, interaction patterns, theming, and developer experience that power Galileo’s digital experiences. Beyond building the system, you will help create the R&D tooling and sandbox environment that enables rapid research, design, and development (RD&D)—supporting fast prototyping, experimentation, and validation of new end-user experiences and value propositions for Galileo, our business partners, and our white-label clients.

Your mission is to evolve our front-end practice into a high-quality, high-velocity, AI-native delivery model that enables Sales, Marketing, and Digital teams to prototype, demo, test, and ship consistent, brand-ready experiences faster. You will bridge the gap from design vision to production reality by leveraging semantic tokens, a dynamic component and patterns architecture, and AI-assisted workflows to increase efficiency, reduce redundant manual work, and accelerate learning through experimentation.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the presentation layer of Galileo’s Design System as a product: UI components, interaction patterns, theming, and developer experience across Galileo and white-label ecosystems.
  • Build and evolve a token-first architecture (semantic tokens, aliasing, themes) that enables multi-brand delivery, fast re-skinning, and consistent behavior across surfaces.
  • Engineer a dynamic component + patterns architecture that supports composable experiences, scalable variants, and predictable APIs while maintaining accessibility and performance standards.
  • Create an RD&D sandbox and tooling for rapid prototyping and experimentation—enabling research, design, and development teams to test new end-user experiences and value propositions quickly.
  • Develop AI-native workflows that compress cycle time (design → prototype → code → validation), including scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, and documentation automation.
  • Establish guardrails and quality gates (linting, token validation, accessibility checks, visual regression where relevant) to reduce drift, prevent regressions, and maintain system integrity.
  • Enable Sales, Marketing, and Digital teams with demo-ready, brand-ready prototypes and reusable assets that accelerate go-to-market storytelling without sacrificing production feasibility.

What you’ll need:

  • 3–5 years of experience building modern front-end applications and/or shared UI platforms, with strong ownership of UI architecture and delivery.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript + modern JavaScript and React (or comparable component framework), including component design patterns and API discipline.
  • Deep capability in HTML/CSS, responsive UI, and accessibility-first implementation, with practical experience implementing reliable interaction behaviors.
  • Proven experience contributing to design systems/component libraries and/or token-based theming for scalable UI delivery (multi-brand experience is a plus).
  • Strong design–engineering collaboration, including Figma proficiency (components/variables, libraries, handoff workflows) and required familiarity with server-side integration concepts such as MCP to collaborate effectively with designers and AI-enabled design-to-code workflows.
  • Front-end craft depth including motion, animation, transitions, and interaction polish (micro-interactions, state changes, performance-safe animation patterns) plus awareness of generative UI workflows.
  • Practical quality + AI discipline: experience with testing (unit/integration; visual regression a plus), performance awareness (bundle size/rendering/loading), and productive use of AI tools for prototyping/refactoring/tests/docs/debugging—paired with strong guardrails (prompt discipline, code review rigor, traceability).
  • Advanced English Level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to answer questions and communicate issues clearly & concisely to associates, members, and management
  • Ability to react to change quickly and implement new processes & procedures
  • Work independently with little or no supervision
  • Professional demeanor and excellent work habits are essential

Nice to have:

  • Experience building prototype-to-production pipelines (e.g., Storybook/workbench environments, token build/transform automation, CI-driven component validation) that accelerate adoption and reduce design–code drift.
  • Familiarity with multi-platform design system delivery (web + native patterns), including approaches for aligning tokens/components across platforms and supporting white-label brand governance at scale.
