Founding Engineer

Superposition is the AI headhunter for startups. We are hiring our first employee. As our founding engineer you will take outsized ownership over entire products from scratch.

We have early traction for an agent that actually gets work done. We're tackling an absurdly large and broken market. Apply for our job and help us fix recruitment so that no-one ever has to apply for a job again.

What you’ll do
  • Run multiple coding agents in parallel to ship delightful interfaces rapidly
  • Use your knowledge of Typescript to review PRs from multiple agents and build scaffolding to improve their output
  • Build robust infrastructure for domains that agents can't yet handle, integrating with a wide range of 3rd party systems
  • Talk directly to customers, and push daily

What we’re looking for
  • You are super agent-pilled - you build (with) agents by default, are a macro-optimist about AI’s future capabilities and a micro-pessimist about the limitations today. You’ve got opinions about context engineering, memory and evals that are derived from hands on building not just reading Arvix.
  • You prefer the pursuit of a singularly ambitious goal over incremental improvements to the status quo. We are not building a tool for recruiters, we are building an agent that outperforms all current human recruiters combined. We are obsessed with solving the whole problem not pieces of it.
  • You’re curious - you believe rate of learning is what helps startups succeed in the 0→1 phase, not mindless thrash. We will win by having the highest fidelity mental model of our customers’ pain points.
  • You’re high agency - you work without being told what to work on, pull on threads proactively and get frustrated when limited to very narrow parameters. Your agency and urgency pushes the company forward.
  • You think from first principles - you reason over problems, avoid “happy ears” and don’t just replicate the status quo in code.
  • You’re a futurist who is genuinely excited about seeing the brain computer interface, quantum computing, space exploration and androids in our lifetime.
  • You are uniquely intense - you have a hobby that you do better than some professionals. Edmund will talk at you about the physics of pourover coffee, and Li is an interior designer at heart. We look forward to hearing you talk enthusiastically about your weird thing.

Interview Process
  1. Intro call with Edmund (30 minutes)
  2. Technical call with Li (30 minutes though likely to run over if you both start geeking out)
  3. Technical assessment - work on this async or come spend a day building in person with us
  4. Technical Debrief with Li (60 minutes, in-person) - talk through what you built
  5. Culture with Edmund (60 minutes, in-person) - why you should / shouldn’t work here
  6. Offer
If you prefer, we can roll steps 3, 4 and 5 together into one super day
