Founding Engineer - High-Growth DeFi Mobile Trading App

Location: Remote - US Remote (Must be able to travel to NYC 2 weeks at a time, every 1-2 months for in person collaboration)

Remote | Full-time

Compensation: $200K - $300K

Our client is the creator of a leading decentralized finance (DeFi) application—often described as the “Robinhood for DeFi”—which allows users to trade cryptocurrencies on-chain through a seamless, user-friendly mobile interface. Since its launch in July 2024, the platform has successfully onboarded over 1.5 million users.

This is a lean team of passionate self-starters where every member acts as both a decision-maker and an implementer. As a Founding Engineer, the successful candidate will run toward the hardest problems alongside high-caliber teammates to shape the future of global finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Ownership: Design, build, and ship delightful, high-impact features end-to-end across mobile and backend, shaping the core user experience.
  • Rapid Iteration: Collaborate closely with design, product, and growth teams to prototype, test, and launch new ideas quickly—shipping often and learning fast.
  • User-Centric Development: Dive deep into user feedback and product analytics to inform decisions, prioritize enhancements, and continuously improve usability and performance.
  • Cross-Platform Engineering: Own full-stack features from Flutter frontends to Go backends, with an emphasis on clean architecture and high performance across iOS and Android.
  • Quality & Reliability: Uphold engineering best practices, write high-quality code with strong test coverage, and participate in code reviews to maintain velocity without sacrificing stability.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with engineers, designers, and founders to make product decisions, set milestones, and shape the platform’s technical direction.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2–4+ years in Product Engineer or Design roles (preferably at high-growth mobile apps or in Web3/crypto).
  • Product Sense: Deep knowledge of design systems and consumer behavior.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to design and develop end-to-end features that are robust, scalable, and cost-effective.
  • Passion for DeFi: Strong interest or experience in crypto/blockchain with an excitement for bringing on-chain products to the masses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • * 2–4 years of experience working on consumer mobile apps (preferably financial apps).
  • Previous experience at a company during a rapid growth phase.
  • Hands-on experience with blockchain technologies (e.g., Solana, Bitcoin, Ethereum).
  • Expertise in designing and implementing robust security architectures.

Technical Stack Proficiency:

  • Frontend: Flutter (iOS + Android)
  • Backend: Go, Postgres, Redis
  • Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Google Cloud, Docker, Terraform
  • On-Chain: Solana (with plans to explore Base and other L2s)
